Bulgaria Air is the national carrier of Bulgaria. The airline is based at Sofia Airport (SOF) and flies to several destinations across Europe.
The airline launched flights in 2002 as a government-owned airline named Balkan Air Tour. In 2006, the airline was privatised but remained its status as the national carrier of Bulgaria.
Bulgaria Air has different baggage policies for carry-on and checked baggage. The cabin class you fly in will also determine your baggage allowance.
Passengers in Economy Class are entitled to one free carry-on bag of up to 10 kg.
Passengers in Business Class are entitled to two items of free carry-on baggage with a combined total weight of 15 kg.
No one piece of baggage can exceed the dimensions of maximum dimensions of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20cm (21.6" x 15.7" x 7.8").
In addition to this, passengers can bring one personal item with them. The personal item can be a small backpack, handbag, purse, laptop and bag etc. and must be able to fit underneath the seat in front of the passenger.
Passengers in Business Class are entitled to two items of free checked baggage, with a maximum weight of 32 kg per piece.
Passengers in Economy Class are entitled to one item of free checked baggage, with a maximum weight of 23 kg.
No one piece of baggage can exceed the overall dimensions of 158 cm (l+h+w).
Bulgaria Air passengers can pick between Economy or Business class.
Passengers in economy receive a full-service, with the airline's friendly cabin crew on-hand to help.
In-flight, passengers can enjoy a range of food and drink from the airline's in-flight menu and entertainment with the airline's in-flight magazine.
Seats are set out in either a 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 configuration. Seats are designed to give ample width and legroom.
Business Class is the airline's most premium cabin class with its best level of service. Passengers in Business Class have their own flight attendant, who is dedicated to serving Business Class passengers exclusively.
Each passenger is given priority baggage drop, check-in and boarding.
Onboard, passengers can enjoy a welcome drink as soon as they're seated. Hot meals are served once the plane has taken off and passengers can order a range of drinks from the airline's extensive drinks menu.
Passengers are given a selection of in-flight magazines to choose from for entertainment.
Business Class seats are set out in a 2 x 2 formation. Seats give greater width and pitch when compared to Economy Class, designed for a more relaxed journey.
There's no in-flight entertainment system onboard Bulgaria Air flights. However, passengers can enjoy reading materials from the airline's business and lifestyle in-flight magazine.
There's no WIFI on any of Bulgaria Air's flights.
Economy Class passengers are offered food and drink during their flight. Passengers can choose from an alcoholic, non-alcoholic, hot and cold drinks, as well as a selection of sandwiches and a chocolate dessert.
Business Class passengers are treated to a welcome drink and are served a hot meal from the exclusive Business Class menu. Business Class passengers can order complimentary snacks and drinks throughout the flight.

Online check-in is open from 24 hours before scheduled flight departure time up until two hours before.
Airport check-in can be completed by visiting one of the airline check-in agents at the check-in desk with the relevant travel documents. Check-in times differ depending on the airport of departure. However, it usually opens two hours before departure time and closes 45 minutes before.
Bulgaria Air's frequent flyer programme is called FLY MORE
Bulgaria Air offers a frequent flyer program called FLY MORE which rewards regular passengers for flying with the airline. Passengers can earn points and redeem them to buy future flights on Bulgaria Air.
The FLY MORE program offers thee levels of membership: Basic Level, Silver Card and Gold Card. The higher-level membership a passenger holds, the better rewards they receive.
Bulgaria Air isn't a member of any airline alliance. However, it does have codeshare and interline agreements with a number of different airlines.

Overall, the airline flies to more than 25 destinations, flying short-haul and medium-haul flights across the continent. Bulgaria Air had previously flown to destinations outside of Europe, including to Tirana, Cairo, Tripoli, Beirut, Skopje and Dubai. However, it recent years, it decided to stop flying intercontinental routes and focus solely on flights within Europe.
