A small city tucked amongst Tuscan hills, Florence is an art lover’s dream, with grand Renaissance architecture and winding cobbled streets.
One of the most iconic sights in Florence is the Duomo, a cathedral with a large terracotta-tiled dome that was engineered by Brunelleschi and began construction in 1296. For a romantic afternoon, take an Italian cooking class.
To save on costs, book a hotel on the outskirts of the city, still just a short train journey from the city centre, where you can wake up and enjoy the full glory of the green Tuscan hills.
Alternatively, shorten your stay and stay a night or two at a grand or boutique hotel, just metres from the city’s top attractions. This way, you can spend your evenings exploring the city’s Old Town and bath in Florence’s golden hour. St Regis Florence (deluxe suites start from $500 USD per night) is the pinnacle of luxury. Complete with restaurant and spa, the rooms are home to exquisite Florentine furnishings and magical views of the Arno.
