How to fly to Puerto Vallarta
Flying Domestically
If you would like to fly to Puerto Vallarta then Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) is the best option as it is very close to the resort city, meaning short transfer times. The airport has 9 domestic airlines making it easy to connect from virtually anywhere within Mexico, either directly or via one of the airline's hub airports. Mexico City, Cabo San Lucas, Monterey, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Tijuana, León/El Bajío and many other Mexican cities are served from the airport. You could also choose to fly into Guadalajara which also offers an extensive domestic route network, however, this is a 5-hour transfer to Puerto Vallarta. Flying from an international destination
Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport has an extensive route portfolio to international destinations, across the US and Europe. The airport offers routes to Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Panama City, Helsinki, New York, London, Madrid, Manchester and many more. This extensive route network makes it easier for international passengers to fly into the airport and begin enjoying their vacation sooner. International passengers can also fly into Guadalajara as there are numerous services to the US but unfortunately none to Europe, Latin America or Canada.

The nearest airport to Puerto Vallarta is Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Aiport and is about 10 minutes from the city centre. Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport
Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) is the major airport serving Puerto Vallarta. The airport is located just north of the city but only around 10-15 minutes from the city centre. It has multiple airlines serving it from across Mexico, the Americas and Europe making it an attractive choice for you. The airport has some car hire facilities enabling you to rent a car for your onward journey or to use one of the taxis that service the airport. Unfortunately, the airport is not served by any public transport for the region.

Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport
Another option other than Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport is to fly into Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport (GDL), located in the city of Guadalajara. However, this airport is quite far from Puerto Vallarta and has fewer international airlines and services. Currently, the only international destination is Madrid in Spain with Aeromexico.
