Swoop is a Canadian low-cost airline and a subsidiary of WestJet. The airline is based at Hamilton International Airport in Ontario and offers flights to destinations in Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States.
The airline was founded in 2017, announcing itself as Canada's newest ultra-low-cost airline, with ticket prices projected to be around 40% less than its parent airline, WestJet. The airline flew its inaugural flight in 2018 with a service from Hamilton to Abbotsford. The airline also has a secondary hub at Edmonton International Airport, which acts as its western hub.
Swoop is the first-ever ultra-low-cost Canadian airline to offer international flights. The airline launched its first international flights to several destinations within the US in mid-2018. The airline currently flies to over 20 destinations with nine Boeing 737-800NG aircraft (as of March 2020).

As an ultra-low-cost airline, Swoop doesn't give you free carry-on baggage or checked baggage allowance, except for a small personal item. Any baggage other than the small personal item must be purchased in advance online or at the airport.
You're allowed to bring one personal item with you onboard, free of charge. This personal item must fit within the dimensions of 41 cm x 15 cm x 33 cm (16" x 6" x 13") and must be able to fit under the seats in the aircraft.
You can purchase carry-on baggage for an additional cost. Carry-on baggage can exceed the dimensions of 52 cm x 23 cm x 38 cm (21" x 9" x 15").
You can purchase up to four pieces of checked baggage for an additional fee. No one piece of baggage can exceed the overall dimensions of 157 cm (62") or exceed 23 kg (50lbs) in weight.
No baggage can exceed 32 kg and no dangerous goods are allowed onboard or in the checked baggage. You must comply with the airline's policy or baggage will not be accepted. If you wish to buy excess baggage, you can do so in the booking process.
You're allowed one free personal item. This could be a purse, laptop bag, briefcase, small backpacks, tote bags, etc. The maximum dimensions are 41cm x 15cm x 33cm (16" x 6" x 13").
Economy Class is the only cabin class available on Swoop flights. The airline offers a no-frills service at a cheap price and allows you to add on the services that you want. This means you can keep the cost down by choosing to stick with just a seat-only ticket or pay a little extra to add things like baggage, food and WIFI to your reservation.
Seats are set out in a 3 x 3 configuration, with 29" of seat pitch and 17" of width.
You can purchase seats with extra legroom, which give 36" of seat pitch. These seats are available on the right half of the first six rows and are available at an extra cost.
Through Swoop's mobile app, you can purchase in-flight entertainment onboard and watch the latest TV shows and movies streaming on Swoop flights from your personal electronic device. The app can be downloaded prior to the flight on android or IOS devices. The in-flight entertainment can be accessed and purchased once in-flight.
Swoop's WIFI network puts the internet in the palm of your hands through the airline mobile app. Once on the app, you can connect to Swoop's WIFI network and browse online on your personal electronic device. Whether you want to message family and friends or catch up with emails, Swoop's WIFI network is perfect for light-browsing and keeping in touch with the outside world.
Swoop offers food and drink that is available to purchase once you board your flight.
You can purchase light snacks and drinks from the airline's in-flight menu. The airline menu has a range of sweet and savoury snacks, as well as hot, cold, alcoholic and soft drinks. You can order anything off the menu once in-flight but must pay with a credit card, as debit cards and cash aren't accepted.
Swoop offers its passengers 2 methods of checking in. You can choose to check in online or at the airport.
You can check-in online via the Swoop online check-in page. You can check-in from 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure time up until 1 hour before the scheduled flight departure time.
You can also check-in at the airport by visiting one of the check-in desks. Airport check-in opens three hours prior to flight departure time. For international flights, check-in closes 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure time and for domestic flights, it closes 45 minutes before departure time. You must make sure that you have all the relevant travel documents with you in order to check in.
As of March 2020, the airline currently does not offer a frequent flyer programme.

Hamilton International Airport is an international airport in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is the hub airport for Swoop. The airport has a single terminal with 2 runways and facilitates flights from airlines travelling around Canada, the US, Mexico and Central America.
Swoop has used Hamilton International Airport as its hub since it launched in 2017. The airline originally planned to base itself out of Calgary, Alberta, however, it ultimately decided to use Hamilton International as its main base instead.
Other airlines that fly to/from Hamilton International include Air Transat, Sunwing Airlines and WestJet.
Swoops fleet is made up entirely of Boeing aircraft. The airline currently has nine Boeing 737-800s within its fleet. The Boeing 737-800 is a single-aisle short to medium-haul aircraft but it isn't the Boeing 737 MAX.

Swoop set to take off from Toronto
Swoop has announced that it will start operations from Toronto Pearson Airport from October the 25th, 2020. Swoop's service from Toronto Pearson Airport will include a mix of both domestic and international routes, although the routes and schedules have yet to be announced.
