Buy Swoop Flights with Alternative Airlines

Swoop is a Canadian low-cost airline and a subsidiary of WestJet. The airline is based at Hamilton International Airport in Ontario and offers flights to destinations in Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States.

The airline was founded in 2017, announcing itself as Canada's newest ultra-low-cost airline, with ticket prices projected to be around 40% less than its parent airline, WestJet. The airline flew its inaugural flight in 2018 with a service from Hamilton to Abbotsford. The airline also has a secondary hub at Edmonton International Airport, which acts as its western hub.

Swoop is the first-ever ultra-low-cost Canadian airline to offer international flights. The airline launched its first international flights to several destinations within the US in mid-2018. The airline currently flies to over 20 destinations with nine Boeing 737-800NG aircraft (as of March 2020).

Baggage Policy

As an ultra-low-cost airline, Swoop doesn't give you free carry-on baggage or checked baggage allowance, except for a small personal item. Any baggage other than the small personal item must be purchased in advance online or at the airport.

Carry-on Baggage

You're allowed to bring one personal item with you onboard, free of charge. This personal item must fit within the dimensions of 41 cm x 15 cm x 33 cm (16" x 6" x 13") and must be able to fit under the seats in the aircraft.

You can purchase carry-on baggage for an additional cost. Carry-on baggage can exceed the dimensions of 52 cm x 23 cm x 38 cm (21" x 9" x 15").

Checked Baggage

You can purchase up to four pieces of checked baggage for an additional fee. No one piece of baggage can exceed the overall dimensions of 157 cm (62") or exceed 23 kg (50lbs) in weight.

No baggage can exceed 32 kg and no dangerous goods are allowed onboard or in the checked baggage. You must comply with the airline's policy or baggage will not be accepted. If you wish to buy excess baggage, you can do so in the booking process.

Personal Item

You're allowed one free personal item. This could be a purse, laptop bag, briefcase, small backpacks, tote bags, etc. The maximum dimensions are 41cm x 15cm x 33cm (16" x 6" x 13").

Cabin Classes

Economy Class

Economy Class is the only cabin class available on Swoop flights. The airline offers a no-frills service at a cheap price and allows you to add on the services that you want. This means you can keep the cost down by choosing to stick with just a seat-only ticket or pay a little extra to add things like baggage, food and WIFI to your reservation.

Seats

Seats are set out in a 3 x 3 configuration, with 29" of seat pitch and 17" of width.

You can purchase seats with extra legroom, which give 36" of seat pitch. These seats are available on the right half of the first six rows and are available at an extra cost.

In-flight Entertainment & WIFI

TV

Through Swoop's mobile app, you can purchase in-flight entertainment onboard and watch the latest TV shows and movies streaming on Swoop flights from your personal electronic device. The app can be downloaded prior to the flight on android or IOS devices. The in-flight entertainment can be accessed and purchased once in-flight.

Wi-Fi

Swoop's WIFI network puts the internet in the palm of your hands through the airline mobile app. Once on the app, you can connect to Swoop's WIFI network and browse online on your personal electronic device. Whether you want to message family and friends or catch up with emails, Swoop's WIFI network is perfect for light-browsing and keeping in touch with the outside world.

Food & Drink

Swoop offers food and drink that is available to purchase once you board your flight.

Swoop Meal Options

You can purchase light snacks and drinks from the airline's in-flight menu. The airline menu has a range of sweet and savoury snacks, as well as hot, cold, alcoholic and soft drinks. You can order anything off the menu once in-flight but must pay with a credit card, as debit cards and cash aren't accepted.

Swoop offers its passengers 2 methods of checking in. You can choose to check in online or at the airport.
