Flights to Niagara Falls

The power, size and majesty of Niagara Falls makes it one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, drawing millions of visitors every year.

Niagara Falls is actually a collective of three waterfalls located along the Niagara River. The river acts as a natural border between the U.S. and Canada — and is therefore neither ‘in’ the U.S or Canada, but actually falls between. The largest of the three falls is Horseshoe Falls (also known as the Canadian Falls), which is the most iconic of falls along the Niagara River.

How to Fly to Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is located northwest of Buffalo, New York (about 17 miles) and southeast of Toronto, Canada (about 75 miles). It’s easy to visit the falls from elsewhere within the U.S., Canada, or anywhere else in the world. Depending on your departure location, you can fly to the following airports:

From the U.S:
If you’re flying from elsewhere in the U.S, the best option will likely be to fly to Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF), which is the closest airport on the America side. The flight will be domestic, as you'll be landing at New York rather than flying into Canada. Another option is Niagara Falls Airport, the closest to the falls, but there are only a small number of flights to this aiport from Orlando and Florida.

From Canada:
If flying to the falls from a destination already in Canada, the best option is to fly to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ).

International:
International travellers who want to visit Niagara Falls will fly to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). It isn’t the closest airport with scheduled passenger flights if you’re flying to the natural landmark from elsewhere within Canada or the U.S., but for many it will be the closest operating direct international flights. If you’re flying to see Niagara Falls from Europe, Asia, or anywhere else in the world, Toronto Pearson Airport will most likely be the only and easiest option for you. Many travellers will take a day-trip or excursion to see the falls while staying in Toronto, one of the most popular cities in Canada. It takes approximately 3.5 hours to get to Niagara Falls from Toronto Airport by public transport, or about 1.5-2 hours from the city centre to the falls by car.
