About Contact Air

Contact Air was a German regional airline that operated services on behalf of Lufthansa Regional and Swiss International. The airline was established in 1974 in Filderstadt as Contact Air Flugdienst, before being acquired by OLT Express Germany in 2012, which later also ceased operations in 2013. The airline was based out of Stuttgart Airport, operating a fleet of 8 Fokker 100 aircraft. The airline was a founding member of Lufthansa's 'Team Lufthansa', which was an alliance of regional airlines assisting Lufthansa. Lufthansa ended its partnership in 2012 with the airline shortly acquired by OLT Express Germany and ceased operating as Contact Air.

Contact Air no longer operates services, meaning that their baggage policy has been terminated.

Check-in Information

As of 2012 Contact Air ceased operations, closing their e-commerce and reservations platform and closing their check-in facilities online and at the airport.

Travel Classes

Upon the closure of Contact Air, all aircraft operated by the airline were returned to the lessors or sold off. This means that as of February 2022 the airline doesn't offer any travel classes or options to book.

Stuttgart Airport (STR)

Stuttgart Airport is the main airport serving the German city of Stuttgart in the south of the country. The airport is often the 6-8th busiest airport in Germany with an annual capacity of around 12 million. Stuttgart Airport operates with 1 runway serving 4 terminal buildings but also can accommodate helicopter movements with its helipad offering greater transport methods for passengers and airlines. The airport is a hub for EurowingsCondor and TUIfly Deutschland and previously was also a hub for Contact Air. Numerous European and international carriers serve the airport providing a diverse route map across Germany, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Currently, airlines such as Aegean AirlinesAeroflotAir CairoBritish AirwaysEasyjetEurowingsKLMPlayTurkish Airlines and more all operate to the airport. Ground transportation to the airport is excellent with regional Stuttgart rail services running between the airport and city centre with long-distance services beginning in 2022. The airport offers coach and local bus services as well as numerous taxi, ride-hailing and car hire facilities.
