Southern Airways Express is a commuter airline which offers flights to over twenty cities in the Southern and Mid-Atlantic states in the US. The airline has four bases, one in each of Baltimore (BWI), Memphis (MEM), Pittsburgh (PIT) and Palm Beach (PBI).
The airline launched in 2013 and has grown significantly, offering more than 100 daily flights under its own airline name, as well as up to 1,500 weekly flights with its partner airline, Mokulele Airlines. The carrier has been aligned with Mokulele Airlines since the early stages of 2019, after acquiring the airline. The acquisition has allowed the airline to expand its focus beyond the south of the USA and give a similar offering in Hawaii among smaller airports. Partnerships and airline acquisition has been a big factor in the airline's growth — one of Southern Airways Express' other important milestone was when it acquired Sun Air Express in 2016 and took on its routes and aircraft.
Baggage Policy
All passengers are entitled to a free small personal item which must be carried on the cabin with them. This baggage must not exceed the weight of 7 kg (15 lbs).
All other baggage allowance depends on the fare purchased. There are three different fares.
Frugal
Passengers are entitled to one free checked bag with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50 lbs) or one free carry-on bag with a maximum 7 kg (15 lbs)
Friendly
Passengers are entitled to free checked bag with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50 lbs) and one free carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg (15 lbs).
Freedom
Passengers are entitled to two checked bags with a maximum combined weight of 32 kg (70 lbs) per bag and one carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg (15 lbs).
Class Fares
Due to its small planes, the airline only has one cabin class. The planes give plenty of space, for a comfortable journey. There's no inflight-entertainment, WIFI or food and drink served once in-flight. However, the airline's friendly cabin crew is available to assist with anything else you might need before, after and during the flight.
Seats
Seats are out in either a 1 x 1 or 1 x 2 formation, meaning that each passenger is sat by either a window or aisle.

Airport Check-In
Airport check-in opening and closing times depend on which airport the passenger is departing from. Some airports require passengers to check-in through a private terminal at the airport, which won't require them to pass through TSA.
Airline Alliance
Southern Airways Express isn't a member of any airline alliance. However, it does have an interline agreement with American Airlines, which allows passengers to book connecting flights on both airlines on the same itinerary.

Hub Airport
Memphis International Airport
Memphis International Airport (MEM) is the main airport in Memphis, Tennessee and is the hub airport for Southern Airways Express. Memphis International has just one terminal that is split into three concourses. The airport has four runways and facilitates flights from airlines flying throughout the US, as well as to international destinations in Canada. The airport handles around 4 million passengers each year.
Southern Airways Express is currently the only commercial passenger airline that uses the airport as a hub. Other airlines that fly to/from the airport include Allegiant Air, American Eagle, Delta, Frontier, United and United Express.
