Silk Avia is a regional Uzbek airline that is planned to begin operations in 2022. The airline is a planned venture by Uzbekistan Airports to boost and increase both development and traffic across the countries airport network. Silk Avia doesn't intend to operate as a direct competitor to current national airline Uzbekistan Airways but to coordinate domestic and regional services across the country. The airline hasn't yet published its intended route map, however, it has stated that they plan on servicing approximately 40 routes with a fleet of regional aircraft seating around 70 passengers with fares being comparable to regional rail prices. It hasn't yet been decided, however, it is likely that the airline will base the majority of its operations out of Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport.
As of January 2022, Silk Avia have yet to publish their intended route map. However, the airline has stated it will operate to 40 destinations domestically and regionally.
Silk Avia is still in the early stages of planning for its eventual launch in 2022. This means that they are yet to determine their cabin baggage policy. However, it may be likely that a small personal item including a ladies handbag, small backpack or briefcase may be allowed onboard free of charge.
Similarly, the checked luggage policy hasn't been disclosed by Silk Avia. It is unsure if a checked case will be included as part of your ticket or if this will be at an additional charge.
The airline is yet to formally establish its own website so it is unsure if online check-in facilities will be available.
It is highly likely that the airline will have check-in facilities for use at the airport across the entire route network of the airline. It is unknown if these facilities will include self-service machines or the times that the facilities will be open and closed prior to departure.
The airline is yet to decide on the fleet of aircraft used, this means that the cabin configuration is also still unknown. However, it is highly likely that the airline will offer an economy class product onboard. SIlk Avia is yet to determine what will be included in an economy class ticket.
Similarly, it is unsure if the airline will offer a business class or premium product onboard. However, as the airline has stated its intentions to operate aircraft with a capacity of around 70 passengers it may be unlikely a premium cabin is installed.
As Silk Avia will operate primarily regional and domestic services on smaller aircraft it isn't expected that inflight entertainment and wifi will be installed. However, the airline may publish and offer an inflight magazine. We recommend that you bring your own entertainment to keep you occupied throughout the flight.
The airline hasn't yet decided on its inflight food and beverages service. As the airline is expecting to operate both domestic and regional flights and offer low prices to match those of the national rail network, complimentary drinks and snacks may not be provided. The airline, however, may choose to offer these at a cost during the flight, more information will be available upon the airline's launch.
It is unsure if Silk Avia will offer a frequent flyer program. As both this airline and the national Uzbekistan Airways is owned by the government it is possible they could share a similar program, UZ Air Plus. However, information regarding this is limited.
Silk Avia haven't yet decided on the fleet of aircraft they intend to use. However, they have stated that they plan on using aircraft which have a capacity of approximately 70 passengers. Additionally, as the airline intends to operate regional and domestic services it is possible that Silk Avia may operate aircraft such as the Bombardier Dash 8, ATR 72 models or an Embraer ERJ/E-Jet. More information about the airlines fleet will be known once the airline launches.
