About the Sundance Film Festival
Dating back to 1981 the festival was founded by American actor Robert Redford to bring new and upcoming filmmakers, directors, producers and actors into the limelight of mainstream media. The festival operates as a not-for-profit organisation and the money raised from the festival is used to offer grants to 25 different filmmakers giving them a residential lab to produce their movies as well as mentorships for over 900 creates yearly.
The event runs every January and is hosted across 3 sites in northern Utah with Salt Lake City, Park City and Sundance Resort all playing host locations. The event has grown in popularity as it has gained recognition for producing and bringing major films and directors to the world stage including Quentin Tarantino and Edward Burns with some films such as 'Little Miss Sunshine', 'The Blair Witch Project', 'Saw' and more. The festival is a world-renowned film event and is popular with film fanatics and celebrities internationally, the festival has proven so popular that they have also hosted film festivals under the Sundance brand in both London and Hong Kong.

Salt Lake City International Airport is the only airport located near the film festival in northern Utah.
