Avianca Costa Rica (formerly known as LACSA) is the national carrier airline of Costa Rica, based in San José.
The airline operates international services to over 35 destinations in North, Central and South America.
In 2013, Avianca Costa Rica has become one of seven nationally branded airlines (along with Avianca Honduras, Avianca Brasil and Avianca Equador) under the Avianca Holdings group of Latin American airlines.
The airline's legal name of the airline remains OceanAir, however, it has been rebranded as Avianca since it is owned by Synergy Group, which owns Avianca Holdings.
The airline launched as LACSA but was bought out by Avianca in 2017.
The following rules apply for all pieces of bagagge, for domestic and international flights regardless of the Class in which passengers are flying:
Economy: 1 piece weighing a maximum of 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
Business: 2 pieces weighing a maximum of 32 kg (70 lbs) each
One piece of carry-on: 55 cms of height (22 inches), 35 cms of length (14 inches) and 25 cms of width (10 inches)
Please note, the number of carry-on pieces varies depending on whether you have LifeMiles or Star Alliance status.
Avianca Costa Rica has a frequent flyer program called Programa Amigo to reward regular passengers with Avianca Costa Rica.
