

Avianca, the growing Colombian flag carrier has launched a new three times weekly service commencing November 04th 2011, from its hub at Bogota's El Dorado Airport to Rio de Janeiro's Galeão International Airport. These are the only direct, non-stop flights between these two dynamic cities and it is Avianca's second service from Bogota to Brazil following the introduction of twice-daily flights to São Paulo. The new service will be flown using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a two class configuration offering 12 seats in Business class and 108 in economy.
Avianca has recently merged with Latin American carrier, TACA Airlines to form Avianca TACA, which is rapidly establishing itself as the premier Latin American airline grouping. Avianca also own the low cost airline, Avianca Brasil which is currently being integrated into the group and will ultimately feed passengers onto the new services from both Rio and Sao Paulo.
