Mariscal Sucre International Airport

Mariscal Sucre International Airport (IATA code: UIO) is a public, international airport near the city of Quito in Ecuador, and is one of the busiest airports in South America. It is otherwise known as Quinto International or just Quinto Airport. The airport serves as the largest hub for TAME, the flag carrier of Ecuador, as well as LATAM Ecuador and Avianca Ecuador.

The new airport terminal was opened in Februrary 2013 to replace the old Mariscal Sucre International Airport.

Location

The airport is located on the Oyambaro plain, near the town of Tababela and about 18 kilometers (11 mi) east of Quito, the largest and capital city of Ecuador.

Facilities

Facilities Include:

WiFi: Free WiFi is available near the gates.

ATMs: ATM cash machines are available.

Children's Play Area: There is a area in the domestic departures area dedicated to children's play, with games available.

Currency Exchange: Available in the International Departures hall.

Shopping and Eating: There are a number of duty free shops and boutiques for shopping. As well as duty-free, there are a number of shops including popular brands. There are a number of eating options, from take-away and fast food to full service restraunts. Options include: Amazonia Cafe, De Volada, Johnny Rockets, Outback Stakehouse, and De-Volada.

Information Desk: Available Landside.

Mobile Charging: Charging points available for electronic devices in all departure lounges.

Showers: Available in the Salón Mitad del Mundo and Layover Stay Lounges (lounge entry fees apply).

Massage: Available in the international and domestic hall, as well as the VIP Lounge.

Layover Stay: Located Landside, 2nd floor, and open 24hrs. Includes drinks (including alcoholic), children's play area, newspapers/magazines, showers, telephones, WiFi. Luggage storage, salon services, and televisions available for a fee.

SALA VIP (Domestic): Located in the domestic departures area, Airside, and open 24 hrs. Includes air con, drinks (including alcoholic), flight monitors, newspapers/magazines, telephones, television, and WiFi.

SALA VIP (International): Located in the international departures area, Airside, and open 24 hrs. Includes air con, drinks (including alcoholic), flight monitors, newspapers/magazines, telephones, television, and WiFi.

Runways

The airport has one runway, 18/36, which is pavement the longest runway in Ecuador and Latin America, measuring 4100m in width by 13,451m in length.

Terminals

The airport has a single terminal building, with a domestic and international departures area. The main terminal is home to all of the airport's passenger services and facilities.

Level 1 is for Arrivals. International Arrivals arrive through the North door, and Domestic Arrivals arrive through the South door.

Level 2 is for Departures. Airlines that operate domestic flights from the airport use the check-in counters in hall A and the south side of hall B. Airlines that operate international flights from the airport use the counters located on the north side of hall B and halls C and D.

How to get to Mariscal Sucre International Airport

By Bus

Aeroservicios provides a shuttle service from Quito directly to the New Mariscal Sucre International Airport. The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The airport is also connected to the public transportation system, with connections to the south and north of the city, with a single fare costing $2 USD.

By Taxi

Cooperativa de Taxis Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre and La Asociación de Cooperativas del Valle provide provide a 24hr Taxi service to/from the airport.

By Car Rental

There are a number of car rental companies that can be found in the public area of the Arrivals Hall: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Localiza and Sixt.
