Japan Airlines president to be replaced by senior executive

Japan Transocean Air, JAL group, Boeing 737-400 painted in special livery takes off from the Tokyo International Airport in TokyoThomson Reuters

Japan Airlines Co (JAL) said on Wednesday that President Yoshiharu Ueki, who helped lead the company's recovery from bankruptcy, will be replaced by managing executive officer Yuji Akasaka in April.

Ueki, a former pilot who was named president in 2012, is credited for helping revitalizing the once-bankrupt carrier by slashing costs and clinching code-sharing deals.

He will become chairman, while Akasaka, currently in charge of engineering and maintenance, will become the new president, the company said.

Japan Transocean Air have launched a new route between Al Najaf International (NJF) and Bandar Abbas International (BND) which will connect central-south Iraq with southern Iran. Japan Transocean Air completed their first service of this flight on April 2nd 2018.

JTA - Japan Transocean Air(NU,Okinawa Naha) took delivery of its first of twelveB737-800s on order fromBoeing(BOE,Chicago O'Hare) on Sunday, January 24.

JA-01RK (mssn 61475) is scheduled to make its commercial debut on double-daily Okinawa Naha-Fukuokaand Okinawa Naha-Miyakojimaflights effective February 10, 2016.

The B737-800s will gradually replace theJAL - Japan Airlines(JL,Tokyo Haneda) subsidiary's existing fleet of twelveB737-400s.
