Buy Bonza Flights with Alternative Airlines

Bonza is an ultra-low-cost domestic airline in Australia. The airline aims to offer customers services between unserved destinations as well as offering low ticket prices. The airline planned on initially beginning services to 17 destinations across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, offering 27 route pairs. The airline is headed on the Sunshine Coast and plans on basing the majority of its services from Sunshine Coast Airport with some additional operations at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. Since beginning operations, Bonza Airlines has acquired 5 aircraft for its fleet, all of which are the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

Bonza's start date was on 31 January 2023. It commenced operations after receiving approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority earlier that month. It currently operates flights to New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Baggage Policy

Carry-on and checked baggage rules apply for all flights with Bonza.

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers travelling with Bonza are allowed one piece of carry-on baggage and one personal item. The total combined weight of these should not exceed 8 kg.

The carry-on bag must not be larger than 56 x 36 x 23 cm (including wheels, handles, tags and decorations). Your personal item must fit under the seat in front of you and should not be larger than 40 x 30 x 20 cm (no larger than a laptop, camera case, small handbag or satchel).

Checked Baggage

For passengers who have purchased the 'Flight only' fare, checked baggage is not permitted. If you'd like to take checked baggage, you can upgrade your booking to a 'Flight + Bag + Seat' bundle.

The checked baggage must not exceed the linear dimension of 140 cm (width + height + depth). With Bonza, you can pick from four checked baggage weight options: 15 kg, 23 kg, 28 kg and 32 kg.

Check-In

To check in for your Bonza flight, you can do so via the mobile app or at the airport.

Mobile App Check-In

Online check-in for Bonza flights is currently unavailable but you can instead check in for your flight via Bonza's mobile app, available for Android and iOS.

Bonza will send you an email notification letting you know when app check-in is open for your flight.

Airport Check-In

If you cannot check in via the mobile app, you can do so at the airport. Airport check-in for Bonza opens 90 minutes before departure and closes 40 minutes before departure.

Cabin Class

Bonza has only one cabin class due to its low-cost business model - this is Economy class. Seats are presented in a 3 x 3 formation and are 17 inches wide with a pitch of 29 inches.

In-Flight Entertainment & Wi-Fi

In-flight entertainment for Bonza flights is accessible via the Fly Bonza app - this includes over 30 different podcasts from LiSTNR as well as games that you can play from Creative Life.

Wi-Fi is accessible on board through the Fly Bonza app however you won't be able to access the internet or social networks, only the entertainment database provided by Bonza.

Food & Drink

Bonza serves a range of food and drinks on its Boeing 737-MAX, with an all-Aussie theme. Meal options include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The in-flight menu can be accessed via the Fly Bonza app.

Frequent Flyer Program

Bonza is a low-cost airline therefore it will not offer a frequent flyer program.

Airline Alliance

Bonza isn't currently part of an airline alliance and is not expected to join one as it is operating under the low-cost business model.

Bonza is headquartered on the Sunshine Coast and operates a majority of services out of Sunshine Coast Airport with some additional operations out of Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. Sunshine Coast Airport is an airport in south-eastern Queensland operating with a single runway. The airport is currently served by Air New Zealand, Alliance Airlines, FlyPellican, Jetstar, QantasLink and Virgin Australia with services across Australia and New Zealand. The airport is linked to downtown Sunshine Coast via an airport shuttle and the Sunbus route 622 service as well as connections to the regional road network.

Fleet

Bonza's fleet currently consists of Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft, a narrowbody aircraft capable of flying short to medium-haul routes and carrying 186 passengers per aircraft. The fleet is set to expand in the year following Bonza's launch. The first aircraft within the fleet has been named 'Shazza', following a vote amongst the Australian community to decide on an appropriate ultra-Aussie name for the first Boeing 737 MAX to adopt! Bonza will be the first Australian airline to operate the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Yes, Bonza aims to fly to Bundaberg and Toowoomba in Spring 2023. Bonza will begin flights to Bundaberg from 10 May 2023 - tickets are already on sale. It also aims to begin operations to Toowoomba from 17 April 2023 with tickets already being sold.

Does Bonza offer flights to Sydney?

No, Bonza doesn't currently operate flights to Sydney, Australia. Among it 17 destinations, it operates low-cost flights to and from Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Melbourne, Alice Springs, Darwin, Rockhampton and many more.
