About Bonza

Bonza is an ultra-low-cost domestic airline in Australia. They're planning to begin flights by October 2022 and are currently expecting to receive their Air Operator's Certificate (AOC). The airline is aiming to offer customers services between unserved destinations as well as offering low ticket prices. The airline plans on initially beginning services to 17 destinations across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, offering 27 route pairs. The airline is headed on the Sunshine Coast and plans on basing the majority of its services from Sunshine Coast Airport with some additional operations at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. Bonza has ordered and intends to use a fleet of Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft on all of its services.

Bonza plans to utilise the Fly Bonza app and have it as the only place to book flights with the airline. The only exception is travel agents that are local to the Sunshine Coast.

Destinations

CEO, Tim Jordan, has expressed interest for Bonza to operate to over 40 airports in various states and territories across Australia. The airline launched a survey for potential passengers to respond informing the company of their preferred destinations for the airline. As of May 2022, Bonza announced an initial route map of 27 routes spread across 17 destinations within Australia. Bonza states their focus will be on point-to-point travel, opting to avoid a stop-over. This is a model which Australian-based airlines tend to favour. The airline has also stated that currently, 93% of the routes that Bonza is flying to, are not already being served by other airlines.

As a general rule, carry-on baggage must not exceed the permitted weight and size limit. Any items exceeding the limit must be transported as checked baggage. All carry-on items are subject to airport security.

No prohibited items are allowed onto the aircraft including any sharp items or fluid over 100ml.

Checked Baggage

Bonza has stated that they will not offer checked baggage as standard, meaning that this will come at an additional cost if required. More information regarding the cost, allowances and ticket types will follow once the airline launches later in 2022.

Your travel documentation and flight details will be needed to complete the online check-in. Please note that not all passengers are eligible for online check-in, if you're not eligible, you must check-in at the airport.

Airport Check-In

The airport check-in deadline has yet to be announced. Please visit the airport website for more information.

At Alternative Airlines, we recommend that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before for domestic flights and 3 hours before the departure time for international flights. This will leave you plenty of time to complete check-in, go through security and arrive at the boarding gate.

Bonza will be the first Australian airline to operate the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY)

Bonza will be headquartered on the Sunshine Coast and plans on operating a majority of services out of Sunshine Coast Airport with some additional operations out of Melbourne Tullamarine Airport.
