FlyPelican, also known as Pelican Airlines, is an Australian regional airline based in Newcastle in New South Wales.

The airline's modern Twin Turbo Prop aircraft are capable of providing an efficient and seamless service to many airports within Australia. FlyPelican was established by former Aeropelican staff and its aircraft and has its main base at Newcastle Airport.

The airline originally operated air charter services but began scheduled flights on 1st June 2015.

Today, FlyPelican Airlines operates a fleet of 19-seater British Aerospace Jetstream 32 aircraft. All operations are conducted using multi-crew airline operating procedures and the aircraft is maintained in accordance with the strictest airline standards.

Passengers are permitted 4kg of cabin baggage, which must fit within the dimensions of 32 x 20 x 18cm.

Checked Baggage

All passengers are entitled to a free baggage allowance. This allowance will depend on the fare class of the ticket.

Fare Classes

Although the airline only has standard seating, it does offer tiered class fares. These fares determine factors such as whether the ticket is refundable or changeable, etc, as well as the timeframes to be able to do so. The class fares will be explained during the looking process for you to be able to choose the right option for you. The fare options are as follows: Pelican Flexible, Pelican Corporate, Pelican Flyer, Pelican Saver, and Pelican Local.

What are the seats like?

Each aircraft has the capacity for 19 passengers. Passengers can enjoy spacious leather-chair seating and great amounts of legroom.

Facilities

Throughout the flight, passengers are served by the highly-trained staff, who help deliver a great service.

The planes are air-conditioned and have an on-board lavatory.

Entertainment

The is no entertainment system on-board the flight. Flights are short-haul so only have a short flight time.

Currently, this airline does not provide the option for online check-in.

Airport Check-In

Passengers must complete check-in at least 45 minutes before flying, as the check-in desk closes 30 minutes before departure.

Flying with Infants

Infants travel free of charge on Pelican Airlines flights. Only one infant is allowed to be carried with one paying adult, and must be carried on the lap of that adult.

Flying with Children

Children aged between 2 years and 11 years must occupy a seat with their own ticket.

The airline flies to a number of popular destinations within the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales, connecting Newcastle with cities and towns including Sydney, Dubbo, and Taree.

Regular scheduled passengers services that are currently being operated between include: Newcastle-Canberra, Newcastle-Ballina (Byron Bay), Newcastle-Coffs Harbour, Newcastle-Dubbo, Canberra-Dubbo, Sydney-Mudgee, and Newcastle-Sydney.

22nd March 2018

FlyPelican swoops into Adelaide from Newcastle

FlyPelican’s first flight between Newcastle(NTL) and Adelaide(ADL) commenced on 22 March. This direct service operates three times weekly with the Australian regional carrier’s Fokker 70 fleet. The route becomes FlyPelican’s fifth service from Newcastle, adding to its existing services to Sydney, Canberra, Dubbo and Ballina. There is no direct competition on this domestic city pair.
