Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport (IATA code: BHM) is an airport airport close to Birmingham, Alabama (USA), which serves its metropolitan area, including nearby Tuscaloosa. Airlines that fly to/from BHM provide domestic services to destinations across America.

BHM is owned by the City of Birmingham and is the the largest and busiest airport in the state of Alabama.

Location

The airport is in Jefferson County, five miles northeast of downtown Birmingham.

Runways

The airport has two runways. The primary runway is 12,007 feet (3,660 m) long and the secondary runway is 7,099 feet (2,164 m) long.

Terminals

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has a single primary terminal building, with three concourses (A, B and C) and 19 departure gates. The concourses are newly completed (having opened in 2014) and provide clean, bright, and modern facilities. The Landside terminal entrance has ticketing and check-in facilities on the upper level, as well as a business center and large function room. Baggage claim and airport offices are on the lower level. Most eateries and shopping opportunities are Airside, near to the departure gates.

Concourse A: Concourse A has 8 gates, A1-A8. It is used by Delta Air Lines and Frontier Airlines.

Concourse B: Concourse B consists of 5 gates, B1-B5. It is used by American Airlines.

Concourse C: Concourse C consists of 6 gates, C1-C6. It is used by Southwest and United.
