Baggage Policy

The baggage allowances of Aviateca (Avianca Guatemala) are the same as Avianca because it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. Please note that baggage allowance will depend on the specific route and is subject to change - the following information can be used as a guide, but the exact allowance will be confirmed during the booking process.

Carry-on Baggage

As a subsidiary of Avianca, Aviateca's (now known as Avianca Guatemala) carry-on baggage allowance is as follows:

The number of items depends on whether the passenger is part of a frequent flyer scheme (such as LifeMiles or the Star Alliance Frequent Flyer program) or not.

Each item, whether the passenger is flying on domestic or international routes, and regardless of class flown, must be of a maximum total length of 115 cm (45 inches) - combined height, length and width.

Additional permitted items include a coat, a photo or video camera, a personal bag, a hat, a personal computer (in its case), or a briefcase. There is also an allowance for special-use items - these include baby strollers (buggies), medical equipment, foldable personal-use wheelchairs, and orthopaedic devices, such as crutches and canes.

Checked Baggage

The Aviateca (now known as Avianca Guatemala) free checked baggage allowance is as follows:

The number of items of baggage each passenger can check in for free will depend on the class of the ticket and whether the passenger is a member of a frequent flyer scheme (LifeMiles of Star Alliance), alongside the origin and destination of the journey.

Each item must not exceed the allowed maximum dimensions, which is a sum of 158cm (62 inches) (height+length+weight), and should not exceed the allowed weight. Any items of baggage that exceed the limits will be charged for under the airline's excess baggage rules.

Additional Baggage

Passengers will be able to purchase additional baggage, subject to availability of space on the flight.
