About Airline

Westair Aviation is an airline carrier that operates scheduled flights out of its hub base, Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS) in Windhoek, within the Republic of Namibia. The airline was founded in 1967 and has been in operation since. Westair Aviation began as an aircraft maintenance facility and has grown to become a passenger and freight aviation company. Westair Aviation began offering scheduled flights back in June 2019 from its hub base under the new brand name, FlyWestair. Later that same year in September 2019, the airline revealed plans to start its first-ever international destination by flying out from Eros to Cape Town. The airline under its new brand name in February 2020, launched its frequent flyer-programme.

The airline currently operates 6 regularly scheduled flights and 6 airports in two different countries in Southern Africa.

Overall, the airline has a fleet of 30 diverse aircraft models including Embraer, Beechcraft, Piper, Cessna and Reims.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-On Baggage

Passengers are permitted to take with them one piece of free 5 kg (maximum) hand baggage. Any carry-on baggage needs to fit in the overhead locker or under the seat.

Checked Baggage

All passengers are allowed to take 20kg of free checked baggage. Any baggage exceeding 32 kg won't be accepted by the airline.

Excess baggage allowance will need to be bought at the airport and is subject to aircraft weight capabilities.


Check-In Information

Check-In Online

Online check-in is available for Westair Aviation flights and passengers can check-in using the online check-in page. Passengers will need to input in their booking reference and last name to the check-in.

Check-in at the Airport

Airport check-in closing times are different for each airport. It's advised that passengers to inform themselves of the recommended check-in deadlines for the airport they are flying from. The following check-in times are normal check-in time in Namibian airports: Domestic flights close 30 minutes before and international flights it's 50 minutes before scheduled departure time.


Economy Class

The airline mainly operates small flights and there is only one cabin class that is offered on the aircraft and that is the standard Economy class. The airline gives you amenities such as the one free checked piece of baggage, snacks, beverages and the option of choosing your seat.

Seats

The airline does allow you to pre-seat selection at the time of check-in and boarding. Seats have fold-down trays and padded headrests.


In-Flight Entertainment

The airline has an in-flight magazine which showcasing Namibian art, lifestyle, business and travel.

Hub Airport

Windhoek-Eros Airport

Windhoek-Eros Airport (ERS) is an airport in Windhoek and the hub airport for Flywestair the rebrand of Westair Aviation. The airline has been using Windhoek-Eros as its hub base since it first began its scheduled flight services in 2019. The airport has two runways and there's one terminal building. The airport handles almost 100,000 passengers each year.

Other than Westair Aviation, the other airline that flies from the airport is Air Namibia.

Westair Aviation didn't have a Frequent Flyer program, however, when they rebranded under the name Flywestair in 2019 and a year later in February 2020 they launched this program. The frequent flyer program offers its members a range of benefits for selecting to fly with Westair Aviation, such as the opportunity to earn and spend air miles, priority check-in, extra baggage allowances and more.
