About Tucson International Airport

Tucson International Airport (IATA: TUS) is a joint civil-military airport located south of Tucson, Arizona, United States. The airport is currently the second-busiest airport in Arizona, after Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. 2018 saw the airport deal with 3,617,554 total passengers and 133, 764 aircraft operations. The airport currently has no airlines hubbed here, and is not a focus city for any airline.

The first municipal airport opened in Tucson in 1919, and was the first municipally owned airport in the US. Commercial flights began in 1928 from this airport, and it was also used by the army during WWII. After a new terminal was opened in 1963, the airport was renamed to Tucson International Airport. 1985 saw the airport's terminal double in size, and the concourse was rebuilt.
