The airline operates from its primary hub at Maputo International Airport, the international airport serving Maputo — the largest city and capital of Moçambique. Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines was launched in 2018, when it became the third carrier to service the Mozambican domestic market, following LAM Mozambique Airlines and Fastjet.

Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines was launched in 2018 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ethiopian Airlines. The domestic carrier was established as part of Ethiopian Airlines’ long-term expansion plan, entitled ‘Vision 2025’, which seeks to enable greater connectivity across Africa.

The airline’s route network initially comprised of Beira, Maputo, Nampula, Pemba, Quelimane, and Tete, but has since expanded to include a greater number of destinations within Moçambique.

Baggage Policy

Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines has different baggage policies for carry-on and checked baggage.

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger is permitted one piece of carry-on baggage, with a maximum weight of 7kg. Passengers may also carry the following items as long as they do not exceed 5kg: a small handbag, laptop, an overcoat, small camera, or reading material.

Checked Baggage

The checked baggage allowance for passengers for the airline depends on the route being operated, as well as the selected ticket fare tarrif, and will be confirmed during the booking process. All checked baggage must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) for the sum of the three dimensions. As a guide, the following baggage allowance applies:

Up to 2 pieces, each with a maximum weight of 23 kg.

Cabin Classes

Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines passengers can choose to fly in Economy or Business class.

Economy Class

Economy provides a comfortable, modern, and bright cabin space, with baggage allowance included in the price of the ticket.

Economy Class Facilities

Light meals, snacks and beverages are complementary or available to purchase based on the route being operated.

Economy Class Seating

All seats provide generous pitch and width, with ample storage space both under the seats and in the overhead storage containers. Lighting and air conditioning is adjustable. Seats are configured in a 2-2 formation.

Business Class

The airline's business class is called Cloud Nine, and is available on some flights operated by the Q-400, but is route dependant and not available on all domestic and regional flights.

Business Class Facilities

Business Class guarantees a much more premium experience. Both cold canapés, beverages and hot meals are provided on short-haul flights in Business Class, depending on the flight times. A range of hot and cold drinks including coffee and tea are also provided. During the flight, passengers will be attended to by dedicated flight attendants.

Business Class Seating

The Business Class cabin is seperated from the Economy class by a curtain. Depending on the aircraft being operated, there is much more space between the seats compared to the Economy cabin. Seats are configured in a 2-2 formation.

Online Check-in

Online check-in is available for Ethiopian Airways and its subsidiary airline's passengers. Online check-in will commence 36 hours before departure and close 2 hours before the flight is scheduled to depart.

Airport Check-in

For domestic flights, check-in counters open three hours before scheduled departure time and close one hour before. At most airports, check-in can be completed by visiting the check-in desks or by one of the self-service kiosks.
