The airline carrier operates out of its hub at Amakusa Airfield (AXJ), northwest of Amakusa, Kumamoto, Japan, on the Amakusa Islands. The airline was founded in October 1998 and commenced its operations in March 2000 with services from Amakusa to Fukuoka and Kumamoto. The airline currently flies between 6 cities and 2 islands within Japan.

In the future, Amakusa Airlines would like to fly between Amakusa and Kagoshima, Amakusa and Miyazaki, Amakusa and Kochi, Oita and Osaka, Fukuoka and Osaka, Hiroshima and Osaka as well as Fukuoka and Tsushima.

Baggage Policy

Carry-on Baggage

The airline's baggage allowance includes all bags, carry-ons, laptop bags, purses, and other items. The weight of both carry-on baggage pieces shall not exceed 10kg and the dimensions of 45 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm.

Checked Baggage

Amakusa Airlines passengers are allowed to take 20kg of baggage per person. Any additional baggage will be charged at the current excess baggage rate. The airline isn't permitted to take hazardous materials such as flammables, compressed gases, batteries, and toxic substances. The airline also refuses passengers to take skis, surfboard, golf bags, diving gear, and other large items as check-in baggage.

Cabin Classes

The airline mostly operates small flights and there is only one cabin class that is provided on the aircraft and that is the standard Economy class. The airline gives you amenities such as the one free checked piece of baggage, snacks, drinks and the option of choosing your seat.

Seats

Seats are positioned in a 1 x 2 formation depending on the aircraft, ensuring that each passenger will sit by either a window, aisle or both.

When passengers arrive at the terminal of the airport, they will hand in their boarding pass and the airline will then be able to take care of their baggage. It would take a few minutes for you to get checked in. The airline recommends passengers arrive at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time. The airline crew from there will be ready to help in the check-in and boarding process.
