Tchadia Airlines has ceased operations as of August 2022 and is no longer flying.

About Tchadia Airlines

Tchadia Airlines was the national carrier of Chad, based at N'Djamena International Airport, near the city of N’Djamena.

The airline was owned in partnership between the Government of Chad (51%) and Ethiopian Airlines (49%), when it was announced by the Government of Chad in August 2018 that it had signed an agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to launch a new national carrier. The airline began operations using a fleet of 2 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, which were transferred from Ethiopia.

Tchadia Airlines, unfortunately, ceased operations in August 2022 due to consecutive years of financial losses.

Baggage Allowance

Checked Baggage

The amount of free checked baggage varied depending on the route, booking class, loyalty program status etc, and would be confirmed during the booking process, when it would also be possible to add additional baggage to your booking if required.

The maximum weight limit per single bag was 32 kg for business class and 23 kg for Economy class.

Carry-on Baggage

Business Class: The free baggage allowance was two pieces, each weighing 8kg.

Economy Class: The free baggage allowance was one piece, with a maximum weight of 7kg.

For all passengers, Economy or Business, carry-on baggage had to fit comfortably in the overhead rack, or under the passenger’s seat. The dimensions (L+W+H) of each piece of baggage could not exceed 115 cm and/or 45 inches.

In addition to the free carry-on baggage allowance, passengers could also carry personal effects for use during the flight, as listed here:

  1. A small handbag
  2. One laptop without accessories and attachments, or one laptop bag
  3. A small camera and/or a pair of binoculars
  4. A reasonable amount of reading material

Airport Check-In

All check-in counters opened 2 hours before departure, and it was advised to arrive as early as possible. All passengers needed to ensure that they arrive at the airport with their confirmed bookings and travel documents.

Economy Class

Every passenger could look forward to enjoying premium Chadian hospitality during their flight.

Economy Class Seating

Economy passengers could enjoy comfortable padded seats, with armrests and headrests and adjustable lighting.

Economy Class Facilities

All passengers, including Economy, could enjoy light snacks or hot meals, depending on the route, which were served with a wide selection of fine wines and alcoholic drinks. On international flights, Tchadia Airlines provided many complimentary amenities onboard, including socks, a slumber shade, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Business Class

'Cloud Nine’ was the name of the airline’s business class, which was in a separate area of the cabin from Economy.

Business Class Seating

The name of the airline’s business class reflected its ambition to ensure customers felt comfortable and elated, which started with extra comfortable seating.

Business Class Facilities

Business Class amenities included a toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm moisturizer (Van Gills 5 ml), socks, eye shade, ear plugs, shaving kit, shoe horn and a comb. The airline also provided exclusive in-inflight magazines and newspapers as part of its Cloud Nine package.

Meals and Drinks

Depending on the route, cabin class, and time of travel, all passengers would be served either a hot meal, hot or cold snack, or light refreshment. Passengers could also choose from a selection of wines, along with hot and soft drinks, to complement their meals. Additional complimentary drinks would be available throughout the flight.

Business passengers could enjoy exceptional meals, including a cheese board, a selection of pastries and a choice of port, brandy, liqueur, or wine (route depending). Economy: All meals, including cutlery, bread, crackers, cheese, and butter, would be pre-plated on trays for convenience.

Special Meals

Passengers with special dietary requirements could request the type of meal they required during the booking process and the airline would strive to ensure the special meal order was provided.

Entertainment

To pass the time, passengers could enjoy duty-free shopping onboard. Magazines were also available.

Wi-Fi

WiFi was not available onboard flights.

Special Assistance

Tchadia Airlines was always pleased to provide a convenient, comfortable, and reliable service for all passengers, including those requiring additional assistance. For anyone requiring special assistance, the airline asked to be informed at least 48 hours in advance of departure, and ideally before the booking to ensure a passenger's needs could be met. This could be done by contacting customer service.

Flying with a wheelchair

Passengers travelling with their own wheelchairs or assistive devices could carry the same in the passenger cabin, on request, subject to availability of space.

Flying with pets

Tchadia Airlines were happy to accept pets in the cabin on all jet (Q-400) aircraft. Pets would need to be in containers, and advance arrangements would be required. Details of the type of pet and size of the container would need to be outlined during the booking process, or by phoning customer service.
