Buy SAS Connect with Alternative Airlines

SAS Connect, also known as Scandinavian Airlines Ireland, is a subsidiary airline of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). The airline operates short-haul flights within Europe and Scandinavia, connecting major cities like Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Berlin, London, Paris and Malaga.

Plans to develop SAS Connect had started in 2017. Scandinavian Airlines aimed to provide a low-cost service that could provide competitive fares for budget-conscious travellers and potentially cheaper flights than its primary routes. In November 2017, SAS Ireland received its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), allowing it to begin operations.

SAS Ireland's first flights took place from London Heathrow Airport using a fleet of Airbus A320neo aircraft. Eventually, operations expanded to include Stockholm and Copenhagen in 2019. The airline's growth slowed down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but went through a rebranding in 2021, renaming the airline to SAS Connect to better align with the SAS Group identity.

SAS Connect continues to operate at full capacity, offering budget-friendly short-haul flights within Europe and Scandinavia.

Baggage Policy

Carry-on Baggage

All passengers are given a free carry-on baggage allowance of 8 kg, regardless of which fare they purchase. Baggage must fit within the dimensions of 55 cm (21.6") x 40 cm (14.7") x 23 cm (9") and each passenger is not allowed to bring more than one bag each.

Checked Baggage

Passengers who purchase the basic SAS Go fare are not given a free checked baggage allowance.

If passengers upgrade to the SAS GO LIGHT fare, they're given a free checked baggage allowance of one piece weighing a maximum of 23 kg.

Passengers that buy any of the SAS PLUS fares are given a free allowance of two free checked bags, weighing a maximum of 23 kg per piece.

Checked baggage cannot exceed the overall sum of 158 cm (length + width + height).

Cabin Classes

Economy Class

SAS Connect flights feature an all Economy Class cabin. The airline offers a great value service that gives passengers all they need to get to their destinations safely and comfortably.

Within the cabin, passengers can purchase multiple fares, each gives a different degree of flexibility, as well as different baggage allowance. For example, the most basic fare, SAS GO LIGHT, is completely non-refundable and offers no checked baggage, whereas the airline's highest fare, SAS PLUS FULL FLEX, allows for complete flexibility when it comes to refunds and changes, plus it gives two free checked bags.

Seats

Seats are set out in a 3 x 3 formation.

Check-In Information

Online Check-in

Passengers can check-in online via the SAS online check-in page. Online check-in opens 30 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. To complete online check-in, passengers must enter their booking reference and last name.

Airport Check-in

Passengers can also check in at the airport for their flight. Airport check-in can be completed one of two ways. Passengers can either use the airline check-in desk or use the self-service kiosks, which are available at select airports. Airport check-in opens two hours before the scheduled flight departure time.

In-Flight Entertainment

There's no in-flight entertainment system installed on the airline's planes. However, passengers can connect their laptops, phones or tablet to the airline's WIFI network and stream their favourite films, TV shows, music and more.

Wi-Fi

SAS Connect offers high-speed WIFI on most flights. The WIFI gives passengers the capability to use their device to browse the web, catch-up on emails, scroll through social media platforms, as well as stream videos on Netflix and other popular streaming websites and apps.

Unless it's included in the price of the fare, passengers must pay a fee to use the WIFI. This can be purchased once in-flight.

Food & Drink

Passengers can purchase a range of snacks and drinks once in-flight. The in-flight menu regularly changes throughout the year, however, passengers can expect an offering of sandwiches, potato chips, chocolate and hot, cold, alcoholic and soft drinks.

Payment for food and drink is made at the time of ordering, once in-flight.

Alternatives to SAS Connect

There are multiple airlines within Denmark and the wider European and Scandinavian area you could alternatively choose to travel with, such as Finnair, Lufthansa, TUIfly Nordic, Norra and more.

Hub Airport

SAS Connect uses multiple airports as its bases of operations such as London Heathrow and Copenhagen Kastrup Airports.

London Heathrow Airport

London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is an international airport in London, England and the main gateway and busiest airport in the UK. SAS Connect has used London Heathrow as one of its two main hubs since it launched in 2017. It began using its second hub at Malaga Airport in 2018. London Heathrow has five terminals, and two runways and handles more than 80 million passengers each year. The majority of SAS flights flying out of London Heathrow are operated by SAS Connect, rather than the parent carrier.

Other than SAS Connect, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also use London Heathrow as a hub. Aeroflot, Asiana Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Eurowings, EVA Air, Japan Airlines, LOT Polish, Philippine Airlines, Saudia, TAP Portugal, TAROM, United Airlines and Vueling are among the many other airlines that fly to/from the airport.

Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport, formerly known as Kastrup Airport, is one of SAS Connect's primary hubs, alongside Stockholm. From this airport, SAS Connect operates numerous flights from Copenhagen to various destinations within Europe and Scandinavia. Copenhagen Airport is located south of the city centre and is easily accessible by car, train and metro. It has three terminals (2, 3 and T).

The airport is served by 60 airlines including major carriers like SAS, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Lufthansa and British Airways. You can fly to over 140 destinations from Copenhagen Airport.

Fleet

SAS Connect's fleet consists of 25 x Airbus A320neos, all operating for Scandinavian Airlines. Each aircraft can seat up to 180 passengers and only offer a single class cabin (Economy).

Frequent Flyer Programme

It is expected that SAS Connect will be a member of parent group's EuroBonus frequent flyer program, where travellers can earn and redeem miles with SAS and partners.

Airline Alliance

It is not expected that SAS Connect will be a member of an airline alliance as it will operate as a low-cost airline. However, the airline could be an affiliate member of Star Alliance, as SAS is already a member. Information on this is still limited as the airline is yet to launch.
