About DAT

Danish Air Transport (DAT) has flights on a number of unconnected routes with the common factor being that they are within the range of their turbo-prop aircraft. Specifically Danish Air Transport operate flights to Bergen and Oslo from Floro in Norway; Esberg and Billund from Stavanger and Bornholm from Copenhagen Danish Air Transport regional Flights in Denmark.

Danish Air Transport was founded and started operations in 1989 initially as a cargo airline. DAT fleet consists of Airbus A320-200, ATR 42-300, ATR 72-200 and McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft. Dat also have a virtual airline, Stordflyet. This airline operates flights for the DAT company, but under different branding.

Checked Baggage

The amount of checked luggage that is permitted on DAT airline flights is indicated on your ticket as it depends what fare has been purchased. Baggage which goes over the allocated allowance will be charged as excess baggage.

Billund Airport is an airport located in Southern Denmark. It is one of Denmark’s busiest air cargo centres, but also have some regular passenger airlines which operate there. It is the hub for DAT Air and Sun-Air, but operated services for airlines such as Ryanair, Scandinavian Airlines, Great Dane Airlines and Wizz Air.

Denmark's DAT wins PSO contract in southern Italy

DAT - Danish Air Transport (DX,Kolding) has been awarded a EUR38.6 million euro (USD47.6 million) Public Service Obligation (PSO) contract in southern Italy for flights connecting the islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa with airports in Sicily.

According to the records of the Italian civil aviation authority (Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile - ENAC), the contract will run from July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2021.

The PSO covers routes out of Pantelleria to each of Trapani(14x weekly), Palermo (14x weekly, growing to 17x weekly in the peak season), and Catania(2x weekly), as well as from Lampedusa to each of Trapani (18x weekly, growing to 28x weekly in the peak season) and Catania (3x-7x weekly). The only other bidder was currently inactive Romanian operator FlyValan (Bucharest Otopeni).

DAT has earlier said that it is mulling establishing an Italian subsidiary to manage the PSO operations once the tender is awarded to the carrier.

Currently, the PSO routes covering Lampedusa and Pantelleria are operated by Mistral Air (M4,Rome Fiumicino).

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, DAT currently operates four A320-200s, two ATR 42-320s (including one in QC variant), one ATR 42-500, four ATR 72-200s, one ATR 72-500 (on wet-lease for Air Nostrum), and oneMD-83. The company also expects a delivery of oneMD-82soon and wet-leases oneSaab 340AfromDOT - Danu oro transportas. The company's current scheduled network covers mostly domestic routes in Denmark and Norway, as well as some flights between the two countries.
