About Airline

San Juan Airlines is a commuter airline that operates scheduled flights out of its hub base, Bellingham Airport (BLI). The airline was founded in 1947 and bought out Pearson Aircraft in 1981. It later disappeared for over a decade after competitive pressures forced the airline to terminate in 1989. However, the airline returned to operations in February 2002. 

In 2014, Northwest Sky Ferry merged into San Juan Airlines and in May 2019, the airline became the third airline to start weekly passenger operations at the Paine Field airport in Snohomish County within the state of Washington D.C.

San Juan Airlines currently operates 24 regularly scheduled flights within Washington D.C. and Oregon within the US and British Columbia within Canada. The airline flies to the San Juan Islands with the only scheduled flight from Anacortes Airport (ANC) and Bellingham Airport (BLI) to the islands. 

Overall, the airline has a fleet of 5 turboprop aircraft ranging from all from Cessnas that can in total carry 21 passengers at one time.  



As of September 2020, the airline has scheduled flights to the 24 destinations within the US. These destinations include Anacortes, Bellingham, Friday Harbour, Portland, Vancouver and Victoria and among others. Baggage Allowance

The airline's baggage includes all bags, carry-ons, laptop bags, purses and other items. All baggage must be weighed.

Checked Baggage

San Juan Airlines passengers are permitted to take 18kg of baggage per person and not exceed 127 linear centimetres (length + width + height). Any additional baggage will be charged at the current excess baggage rate. The airline isn't permitted to take hazardous materials such as flammables, compressed gases, batteries and toxic substances. If you are not certain if the goods you will be taking may be denied loading.


Economy Class

The airline mostly operates small flights and there is only one cabin class that is provided on the aircraft and that is the standard Economy class. The airline gives you amenities such as the one free checked piece of baggage, snacks, drinks and the option of choosing your seat.


Seats are positioned in a 1 x 2 formation depending on the aircraft, ensuring that each passenger will sit by either a window, aisle or both.

Airport Check-In

When passengers arrive at the terminal of the airport, they will hand in their boarding pass and the airline will take care of their luggage. It would take a few minutes for you to get checked in. The airline emphasis that passengers are advised to arrive 2 hours before their scheduled departure time. The airline crew from their will be ready to help in the check-in and boarding process.
