Provincial Airlines has rebranded as PAL Airlines. Please visit PAL Airlines page for the latest information.

About

Provincial Airlines was founded in 1972. It is a Canadian regional airline serving Eastern Canada and offers charter flights to groups, cooperates, sports teams, etc. The airline is based at St John's International Airport, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Goose Bay Airport and Montreal / Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

The routes are operated by a fleet of turboprop aircraft including the Dash-8-300, Dash-8-100, Twin Otter and Beech 1900D. These aircraft serve over 20 destinations that the airline operates to. Throughout its history, the airline never operated long-haul aircraft as it only flies domestic destinations.

Baggage Policy

Provincial Airlines had different baggage rules for carry-on and checked baggage.

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers are entitled to one carry-on baggage that does not exceed 13 lbs in weight and 12" x 16" x 10" in three dimensions. Passengers are also welcomed to bring on a personal item, such as a purse, a laptop or a personal bag. Please note that these items must fit under the seat or in the overhead lockers.

Checked Baggage

Passengers who booked fare class Charlie will have one free checked baggage allowance. This baggage cannot exceed 23kg (50lbs) in weight and cannot exceed a total of 62 linear inches in three dimensions.

Excess Baggage

If you wish to buy excess baggage, you can do so at the time of booking. Please contact our customer service team if you encounter any problem.

Check-In

Find out about Provincial Airlines' check-in policy, including check-in closing and opening times.

Online Check-in

Online check-in is available from 24 hours before and up to two hours before the scheduled departure time. Check-in is available via the airline website.

Please prepare your e-ticket and passport details for check-in.

Unfortunately check-in is not available for passengers travelling with an infant, bookings for more than 10 people and passengers required assistance for the flight. If you're in any of these categories, please check-in at the airport.

Airport Check-in

Please leave plenty of time for airport check-in. At Alternative Airlines, we recommend passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before departure to complete check-in and boarding. When you arrive at the airport, please follow the signs to reach the designated check-in area for your PAL Airlines flight.

Valid travel documentation is required for check-in to verify your identification. The airline reserves the rights to deny check-in if any passenger fails to meet the airline's check-in deadline and requirements.

Airline Alliance

PAL Airlines is not a part of any global airline alliance, but it has a codeshare agreement with WestJet.

The codeshare agreement with WestJet allows PAL Airlines passengers to book other WestJet's domestic Canadian flights through PAL Airlines, which broaden the domestic network for the airline. Baggage policies may differ in these codeshare flights, please check your e-ticket for confirmation.
