Alternative Airlines now accepts Klarna’s flexible payment options in the U.S. and Australia
U.S. and Australian residents can now search and book flights through Alternative Airlines and select Klarna at checkout — the smoothest way to book flights today and pay back over time.
08/04/21 — Alternative Airlines, a global flight booking site, has expanded its partnership with leading ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ (BNPL) payment provider Klarna, to offer its ‘Pay in 4’ payment option to U.S. and Australian residents booking flights through the www.alternativeairlines.com platform.
Through Alternative Airlines, customers will now be able to benefit from Klarna’s ‘Pay in 4’ payment option and book flights now and pay back in 4 equal interest-free payments with each payment taken once every 2 weeks. ‘Pay in 4’ will be available to customers who reside in two countries: in the U.S., on purchases up to $1000 USD, and in Australia, on purchases up to $1000 AUD.
Klarna is a market-leader in providing flexible payment options that meet shoppers budgets. Alternative Airlines already offers Klarna’s other payment product offerings — including ‘Pay Now’, ‘Pay Later’, and ‘Pay in 3’ — to customers in many European countries, with the addition of Australia and the U.S. making it 13 countries in total.
Speaking on the announcement, Sam Argyle, Managing Director at Alternative Airlines, commented: “The U.S. and Australia are two of Alternative Airlines’ largest markets, so we’re thrilled to be expanding our partnership with Klarna into these regions! We’re continuously looking to better serve our customer’s needs. By expanding Klarna to more countries, we’re excited to provide even more payment flexibility, as well as widening our reach to many more new customers in these massive markets.”
Since launching in America in 2015, Klarna has seen tremendous momentum, with a record 15 million customers now using Klarna in the U.S. And having only launched in Australia in 2020, Klarna’s Australian customer base has already grown to more than half a million users in January 2021.
Argyle added: “Our customers are looking for more choice and more convenience with their payment options. This is especially true following COVID-19, with even more customers looking for greater flexibility when it comes to how and when they book their flights. We’ve found that people in large countries such as the U.S. and Australia still need to travel domestically for many different essential reasons. And, as travel for leisure begins to resume in the coming months, splitting the cost of flights with Klarna will make a massive difference to many of our customers.”
To begin, customers simply need to use the Alternative Airlines website to find the flights they’re after — the site offers over 600 global airlines, including all major carriers and many of the smaller domestic airlines around the world, including American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta, Qantas, and many others. At checkout, customers can then select ‘Klarna’ as their payment option.
Klarna’s ‘Pay in 4’ is a flexible alternative to traditional high-interest bearing credit cards. When using ‘Pay in 4’, payments are automatically withdrawn from the debit/credit card linked to the customer’s Klarna account every 2 weeks, until the full amount has been paid. If payments are made on time, customers will only pay the price they see at checkout, with no additional costs or hidden fees charged.
