Formed in 1999 and based in Irkutsk, Russia, IrAero operates domestic and international scheduled passenger alongside charter services since 2006 and before that the airline would operate cargo flights. IrAero is currently the leading carrier of its region. The airline operates out of its hub base at Irkutsk International Airport (IKT), near the Irkutsk.

In May 2019, this airline announced they were to begin new flights to Penza in the Penza Oblast from Sochi. This commenced on 25th May 2019, and will operate a 2 weekly service. It is expected this route will be on the Sukhoi SuprtJet SSJ100 aircraft.
Passengers travelling in economy class are permitted one 5kg piece of hand luggage. Those travelling in premium, or Business Class are permitted one 10kg piece of hand luggage. No item of carry-on baggage must exceed 115cm total combined dimensions, of 55 x 40 x 20cm.
Passengers travelling with an Economy Class ticket are permitted one piece of 20kg of checked luggage. Passengers in Premium and Business C Class are permitted 1 x 30kg checked luggage, and those passengers travelling with a Business D Class ticker are permitted 2 x 30kg pieces checked luggage.

Irkutsk International Airport is an international airport located just outside Irkutsk, Russia. The airport serves over 2.2 million passengers each year. The airport is located 10km east of Irkutsk.
The airport is also a hub for Angara Airlines but operates services for a number of airlines including Nordwind Airlines, S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, Yakutia Airlines and Utair.

As the summer season has started, the flow of tourists between Russia and Azerbaijan is growing. In order to handle with the increasing number of visitors, airlines open new flights to popular destinations. Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo International Airport said in a message that Russian IrAero airline launched the first regular flight Baku-Yekaterinburg-Baku on June 19.
