Alternative Airlines Partners with UATP, the Leading Global Payment Network for Travel
27/04/2022 – Alternative Airlines, the global flight search and booking site, has joined the UATP network as a new travel merchant. Alternative Airlines can now make direct settlements across UATP’s worldwide network of airline and travel merchant partners.
Sam Argyle, Managing Director at Alternative Airlines: “We’re incredibly proud to be joining the UATP network and to be able to accept UATP cards as a form of payment from our partners. UATP is the preferred method for settling payments for many global airlines, so offers an unrivalled payment solution as we continue to grow in markets around the world.”
Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP) is the leading corporate travel payment solution owned by the world's airlines. UATP helps airlines to navigate the complex global payments market by directly bridging the gap between airlines and travel merchants. The network enables partners to make direct settlements and easily reconcile accounts.
Alternative Airlines tickets 600+ airlines and through UATP will now have better payments access to major carriers including American Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Aeromexico, Air New Zealand, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines and WestJet.
As Alternative Airlines also uses its own technology to provide more airline options per route, including transfers and connections, UATP also increases the opportunity for more complicated transactions to be made. Argyle: “Having UATP as a payments solution will be invaluable as we continue to work to bring more complex itinerary options to our customers. In the future, we will also looking at utilising UATP issuer capabilities to build closer relationships with our airline partners.”
With Alternative Airlines joining the network, UATP’s partner airlines will continue to benefit from exposure to the site’s high-value global customer base. Alternative Airlines sets the standard for flexible instalment options, offering a wide choice of over 40+ payment options to customers around the world. This includes e-wallets, cryptocurrency and a number of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options.
Argyle concluded: “We can now also accept UATP cards from Uplift and Fly Now, Pay Later. These are two of our key BNPL partners so it is crucial that we have a settlement option that is easy and seamless – and this is what UATP provides. The proven success that Uplift and Fly Now, Pay Later have had with the network is also testament to the doors that UATP can open.”
