Arktika Airline is a new proposed airline which is expected to provide domestic and international flights from its base in Russia, just north of the Arctic Circle. An initial expected start date is the Summer of 2019, though a specific date is yet to be confirmed. It is co-founded by the governments of Arkhangelsk Oblast and Nenets Autonomous Okrug in north-western Russia.
The airline is expected to be based out of Naryan-Mar, which will make it the first to be based out of this airport. The airline will fly to domestic Russian routes, and also to international destinations such as Norway and Finland, particularly the city of Tromsø in Norway.
It was announced in mid April 2019 that the airline Red Wings Airlines has offered to take over from the government authorities to manage Arktika, alone with its subsidiary airline SmartAvia.
