Russia ’s Taimyr Airlines (which does business as NordStar Airlines) has taken delivery of its first ATR 42-500 turboprop regional airliner from a firm order for four aircraft and three options that NordStar placed in 2010. NordStar’s Krasnoyarsk-based ATR 42-500s will fly to new regional destinations within Krasnoyarsk Region as well as to destinations such as Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Ekaterinburg.

NordStar has ATR 42-500, Boeing 737-300 and 800s in their fleet. The 46-seat ATR 42-500s, equipped with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines, will be fitted with additional features to facilitate cold-weather, remote-territory operations in Siberia and the Russian Far North.

Additional features on the aircraft will include ETOPS 120 minutes capability, operations down to -45° Centigrade and special fuselage protection.

Norilsk airport serves flights to Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk amid renovation

The airport in Norilsk serves flights to more than ten destinations across the country

The Krasnoyarsk Region’s biggest airport in Norilsk will continue serving flights to Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk during the runway’s reconstruction, which is due between June 4 and September 22, Deputy Head of Taimyr’s municipal district Oleg Mozgunov told TASS.

The airport in Norilsk serves flights to more than ten destinations across the country.

"While last year, during reconstruction of the runway’s central part, we limited flights by heavy planes, this year Boeing 737-800 will continue flying, though we are cutting the number of destinations," the official said. "The Nordstar air carrier will make three flights to Moscow and two flights to Krasnoyarsk every day, except Sundays."

The Sibir air company will make two flights a day, except on Sundays, from Norilsk to Novosibirsk on board Embraer planes. Once a month, the company will offer a flight to Moscow via Yekaterinburg - the first flight is due on June 21.Renovation of the Alykel airport in Norilsk began in 2016. All works are done during warm seasons only. The renovation is due to be finished in September, 2018. The federal budget allocates for the program 9.6 billion rubles ($154 million), and the Norilsk Nickel Company (Nornickel) invests 3 billion rubles ($48 million).

NordStar Airlines becames the winner of national aviation "Wings of Russia" 

NordStar Airlines won a national aviation award "Wings of Russia" in the nomination "Domestic air transportation". The expert jury awarded the NordStar with a diploma in the category "Domestic shipments in Group 2 (the volume of traffic for the ILL for 2017 from 0.7 to 4.0 million passengers)", and the airline received an additional award "Champion TCH" in a special award nomination.

NordStar Airlines opens new destination from Krasnoyarsk

The NordStar Company is Norilsk Nickel’s aviation project

The NordStar Airlines (Nornickel's subsidiary) from February will have a new destination on its map of routes. The flights will connect Krasnoyarsk and Yakutia’s Polyarny airport, the air company’s press service said on Tuesday.

"NordStar Airlines is selling tickets for flights between Krasnoyarsk and Polyarny," the press service said. "The flights will be operated from February 8."

The company will use turboprop ATR 42-500, having 46 seats. Between February 8 and 15, the flights will be served on Thursdays, and after February 21, the company will make two flights a week - on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Polyarny airport in Yakutia is an air hub for the Udachny city.

The NordStar Company is Norilsk Nickel’s aviation project. The company has a fleet of Boeing 737-800 - the modern version of B-737, offering economy and business classes; as well as turboprop ATR 42-500, which are equipped specially for exploitation in Siberia and the Extreme North.

NordStar Airlines announce Samara-Baku air flights may be launched soon. 

Another Russian air carrier has received permission for operating flights to Azerbaijan. The airline NordStar was granted the permission to Samara-Baku regular passenger flights with a frequency of once a week.

This is indicated in the protocol of the interdepartmental commission on the admission of air carriers to perform international transportation of Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).

NordStar is a Russian airline that takes its place among the 15 largest airlines of Russia. The air carrier, having headquarters in the city of Norilsk, operated its first flight in June 2009. The airline’s fleet consists of nine Boeing 737–800 jets, which are equipped with business and economy classes, as well as four ATR 42-500s for regional services.

Currently, Russian airlines such as Aeroflot, NordStar, Ural Airlines, UTair, IrAero and S7 Airlines are implementing flight to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan offers numerous must-see spots, one of which is the Shahdag Winter-Summer Tourism Complex. It was recently claimed to enter the Top 3 popular resort for mountain hiking among Russia and CIS countries, according to the tourist portal TurStat.

Over the past year, Azerbaijan received over 2 million tourists, 685,000 of whom were guests from Russia. Taking into account all mentioned above, this figure is expected to rise by the end of 2016.

NordStar Airlines successfully passes IOSA audit

Russia’s NordStar Airlines has successfully undergone an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) confirming its compliance with more than 1,000 internationally approved aviation safety standards, the carrier reports.

NordStar’s IOSA certificate is valid through August 2018. Annual audit is required to renew the approval.

Successful completion of the safety checks makes the airline eligible for joining IATA. However, in its official statement NordStar gave no notion of its intention to do so.

Eleven Russian airlines are currently members of the international association. Theser are Aeroflot and its subsidiary Rossiya Airlines, Nordavia, Nordwind Airlines, Pegas Fly, S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, UTair Aviation, Vim Airlines, and also two cargo carriers: Volga-Dnepr and its subsidiary AirBridgeCargo.

NordStar Airlines, part of the Russian mining and smelting corporation MMC Norilsk Nickel, is Russia’s 15th carrier by passenger traffic. Between January and July 2017 it carried 783,800 passengers, up 9.9% on the same period last year. Its seat load factor increased 5 percentage points to 77.5%. The airline sees its primary mission in providing air services between Krasnoyarsk Region in Siberia and major cities elsewhere in Russia.

The airline operates a fleet of five ATR 42-500 regional turboprops, a Boeing 737-300, and nine 737-800s.

NordStar Airlines announced it had extended the permission for flights from Ufa and Norilsk in Baku

NordStar Airlines won the right to operate flights on these routes without any limitation period. The airline will operate regular passenger traffic on the route Ufa-Baku and Norilsk-Ufa-Baku 2 times a week. Its first flight NordStar completed June 17, 2009 on the route Moscow-Norilsk opening regular flights on the two most important areas for Norilsk: Norilsk-Moscow and Norilsk-Krasnoyarsk.

 

At the same time the airline NordStar launched a transportation route Krasnoyarsk-Moscow. NordStar - one of the largest Russian carriers with passenger turnover of more than 1 million people. To date, the geography of flights the airline covers more than 30 cities across Russia and the CIS countries.
