Buy Trans Maldivian Airways with Alternative Airlines

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) was founded in 1989, started with helicopter operations but the infrastructure couldn't support its operation and most resorts are only accessible by boat. The airline changed its operations to seaplane as it provides a faster and more convenient travel option than boats. TMA was previously named 'Hummingbird Island Helicopters' and 'Hummingbird Island Airways' until 2000. In 2013, the airline and Maldivian Air Taxi merged as a result of the Blackstone Group buyout. In 2017, Bain Capital announced that they are acquiring Trans Maldivian Airways, Bain Capital is now owning 80% of the airline.

TMA is the world's leading seaplane operator since 2014 recognised by World Travel Awards. The airline has its terminal next to Velana International Airport. It operates scenic flights, resort transfers, picnic flights, charter flights and domestic flights.
