Penobscot Island Air is a small regional airline that offers services out of Knox County Regional Airport (RKD). The airline was founded in 2004 and started operating a year later. The airline currently offers scheduled flights to the islands in Maine's Penobscot Bay and also operates private charter and seaplane flights across the region.

Each passenger is permitted 22kg (50 lbs) of baggage without an extra charge. Any additional luggage or items above 22kg (50 lbs) are charged at a rate of 50 cents per pound.
Penobscot Island Air passengers must check in at the airport since the airline doesn't offer online check in.
