Search for your flights through Alternative Airlines and choose Openpay at checkout to book today, and pay back later.

Openpay is a payment option which makes it more affordable to book flights by letting you split up the total cost into more manageable chunks. All you need to do is use the Alternative Airlines site to search for your flights, select the flight that you want, and select Openpay at checkout. Choose from Openpay's plans, and pay your first instalment. The rest of the cost of your flights will be spread over 3 - 7 months, depending on your chosen plan.

How to Buy Flights With Openpay

Openpay is only available as an option to those who are a resident of the United Kingdom, and are aged 18 or over.

How to search and book flights using Openpay:

  1. Search for flights using Alternative Airlines' website. You can use the search bar at the top of the page to do so.
  2. Choose from over 600 global airline and find the right flights for you. Enter your passenger details, then select 'Openpay' as your payment method at checkout.
  3. If you don't already have an Openpay account, you'll need to quickly create one. The process is really quick and easy. Openpay will make an instant approval decision, so you'll know whether you are eligible for a loan.
  4. Once approved, the price of your flight will be split into instalments, to be paid over 3 to 7 months, depending on your chosen plan. You'll need to make your first payment at the time of booking. The remaining instalments will be taken each month on your chosen date. You can log into the Openpay app to manage your payments and choose a payment date.

What is Openpay?

Openpay first launched in Australia in 2013, and began offering payment services in the UK in June 2019.

Openpay lets you choose the right plan for you, so that you can choose whether to split the cost over 3-7 months. You'll pay in equal monthly instalments, with your first instalment paid on the day, once you reach checkout.

How can I use Openpay to pay for flights?

Search and book flights on the Alternative Airlines website and select Openpay at checkout.

How is the cost of my flights split?

Once you have registered and created a Openpay account, you'll be able to pick the right payment plan for you, then pay your first instalment. The rest of the payments will be spread over 3 – 7 monthly instalments.

Will interest be charged on my Openpay payments?

There's no interest charged when you buy flights with Openpay.

Does Openpay charge any fees?

Openday will only charge a fee if you miss a payment. The late payment fees are £7.50 per missed payment.

Is there a chance I won't be approved?

Openpay is dedicated to responsible lending, and therefore will need to perform some soft checks. To be eligible for an account, you will need to meet the following conditions:

1. You’ll need to be 18+ years old

2. You need to be a UK citizen

3. You'll need to have a valid government-issued photo ID

4. Have a debit or credit card (Visa/Mastercard) in your name

Is Openpay available outside of the United Kingdom?

Openpay can only be used is you are a U.K. resident.

Can I use Openpay to pay for domestic flights within the UK?

Yes, Clearpay can be used to pay for any domestic flights within the UK. Alternative Airlines lets you book flights on popular airlines that fly domestically within the U.K., including EasyJetBlue Islands and Logan Air.

Can Openpay be used to book international flights?

Yes, Openpay can be used for travelling on international flights! Whether your flight departs or arrives in the U.K. or not, if you meet the conditions to be able to pay using Openpay, you can book flights on any of the 600+ airlines available through Alternative Airlines.
