About Norlandair

Norlandair is an Icelandic airline founded in 2008 however, the companies heritage can be traced back to 1974 as there was another company operating under this name. The company later purchased North Air and merged with Icelandair's domestic carrier to become Air Iceland. Former employees and investors of Norlandair decided to purchase operations from Air Iceland and began operating as Norlandair. The airline operates 3 types of aircraft across its services, which are the de Havilland Twin Otter, the Super King Air B200 as well as the GippsAero GA8 Airvan. These aircraft are used on scheduled, charter and air ambulance services across Iceland. They operate domestic Icelandic services from cities such as Reykjavik, Grimsey, Akureyri and more as well as a service to neighbouring Greenland.

Baggage Allowance

Hand Luggage

You are entitled to bring one item of cabin baggage aboard the aircraft with you. However, as the aeroplanes are relatively small and lacking in cabin space the airline states that you are only allowed to bring a small personal item on board such as a handbag, briefcase or camera bag. These items are not allowed to exceed 4kg weight.

Checked Luggage

All tickets include 1 checked bag which has a maximum weight allowance of 20kg. All checked luggage should fit within the airline's specified size guides of (length + width + height) 158 cm (62 inches), this should also include the items handles and wheels.

Travel Classes

Due to the size of their aircraft the airline only offers an economy product aboard their fleet. A typical economy style seat has been installed on the airlines fleet and only 1 ticket type is available for purchase. There is no inflight catering as the flights aren't typically long enough or aircraft with the facilities to provide this, this is also how the airline can keep ticket prices down.

Wifi & Entertainment

The airline currently doesn't offer any inflight wifi or entertainment as their aircraft are not large enough to enable this and their services generally arent long enough to justify this. So do bear this in mind before departure and bring something to fight the boredom.
