The airline was founded in 2002 but didn't begin operations until 2003. Islas Airways operated its flights with a fleet of ATR 72 aircraft - these were ideal for short-haul, regional flights and worked well for the airline's routes.
Unfortunately, in 2012, Islas Airways ceased operations due to financial difficulties. Shortly after this, its operating licence was revoked.
Before it stopped flying, Islas Airways flew to 6 destinations around the Canary Islands. It played an important role in connecting all of the Canary Islands together and was a popular airline to fly with for the locals and tourists in the area.
