About Green Airlines

Green Airlines was a German domestic airline startup airline that had recently launched in 2022 in the metropolitan region of Upper Rhine Karlsruhe, in Germany, with the cities of Berlin and Hamburg. The airline was particularly targeting business travellers in Germany, connecting metropolitan hubs that otherwise have a long commute by trains or car. The carrier operated out of its hub at Weeze Airport (NRN).

Green Airlines identified as an eco-friendly and sustainable airline, and was committed to its environmental responsibility, with a low-carbon focus. With every flown passenger, the airline offset more emissions than are caused. Furthermore, every ticket sold would contribute to the expansion of emissions avoidance, as well as the promotion of regional companies and environmentally responsible projects.

A Virtual Airline

Green Airlines was going to be a virtual airline, which means that the company won’t operate its own aircraft or personnel, or even have its own air operators’ certificate.

The actual flights were due to be operated by Air Alsie, using the airline’s fleet of two ATR 72-500s.

Green Airlines operated 5 regularly scheduled domestic flights within Germany.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

The free baggage allowance for carry on baggage was 8 kg. The dimensions of the hand baggage must not exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Because of the limited space on the aircraft and security, only one piece of hand baggage was permitted per passenger.

The checked baggage allowance depended on the passenger’s booking class. For economy and business passengers, the free baggage allowance was 15 kg per passenger. In most instances, checked baggage is carried on the same aircraft, but if this was not feasible, the airline would transport the baggage on the next departing flight.
