Freedom Airline Express Ltd also known as Freedom Airline is a low-cost Kenyan commuter airline that operates scheduled as well as charter and executive flights out of its hub base, Wilson Airport (WIL) in Nairobi, Kenya. The airline was established in 2008 and currently flies to ten domestic and international destinations within Kenya and Somalia including Nairobi, Mogadishu, Garowe, Galkayo, Kismayu, Garissa, Elwak, Mandera, Mombasa and Kisumu.
Freedom Airline is wholly licensed to fly across the African continent as well as the Middle East. The airline has a range of 9 modern aircraft including Bombardiers, Fokker 50s, Embraer 120s and a Eurocopter EC120 which can all carry 362 passengers at one time.
For over a decade, the airline has not just offered passenger services but has also provided a range of specialised air transportation such as wet lease and ad hoc flights, medical evacuation, humanitarian, VIP/executive transportation and much more. The airline is also a certified aircraft maintenance service provider, offering specialized services to third parties at Wilson Airport (WIL) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
As of October 2020, the airline has scheduled flights to five destinations within Kenya and four destinations in Somalia. These destinations include Mogadishu, Elwak, Mandera, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kismayu, Garowe, Galkayo, and Garissa. The airline's baggage includes all bags, carry-ons, laptop bags, purses and other items. All baggage must be weighed.
Checked Baggage
Freedom Airline allows its passenger to take with them a maximum of 15kg baggage inclusive of hand luggage. Any additional baggage will be charged at the current excess baggage rate and only carried subject to space availability. Freedom Airlines offers services to the of the following aircraft: Embraer 120 and the Fokker 50. There are some restrictions caused due to the size and type of aircraft.
Carry-on Baggage
Currently, the airline hasn't released any information with regards to carry-on dimensions and weight.
The airline mainly operates small flights and there is only one cabin class that is provided on the aircraft and that is the standard Economy class. However the airline does offer flights for VIP/Executive passengers. The airline gives you amenities such as the one free checked piece of baggage, snacks, drinks and the option of choosing your seat.
Seats are arranged in a 2 x 2 formation depending on the aircraft, ensuring that each passenger will sit by either a window, aisle or both.
Passengers can check-in online before their flight.
As passengers arrive at the terminal of the airport they would need to hand in their boarding pass and the airline will then take care of their luggage. It won't take long for you to check-in however the airline emphasis for passengers to arrive an hour before their scheduled departure time as the check-in counter closes 45 minutes before the departure time. The airline crew from their will be ready to help in the check-in and boarding process.
The airline doesn't currently have a frequent flyer program.
