Fort Smith Airport (IATA code: YSM) is a small regional airport located near Fort Smith, in the Northwest Territories, in Canada.

The airport is very small and Northwestern Air is the only airline to operate from the airport, providing domestic services to destinations within Canada.

About Fort Smith

Fort Smith is a scenic and historic town in the Northwest Territories and near the border with Alberta. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful and sprawling Wood Buffalo National Park, enjoy the Slave River Rapids, or walk or cycle the riverfront Thebacha Trail. The Slave River is also the northernmost pelican nesting site in the world!

Visitors can visit the museums and gift shops in the charming old town, including the Northern Life Museum, which displays over 13,000 artifacts which represent the native people of the North.

Fort Smith Airport is located just a short drive from Fort Smith town. It is just 4.5 kilometres from the centre of Fort Smith.

Fort Smith Airport consists of one very small terminal building, as well as a few storage and maintenance outbuildings.It is very easy to navigate around the airport. Passengers will step straight out of the terminal to board their plane.

The airline provides scheduled services to: Edmonton, Fort Chipewyan, Hay River, High Level, and Yellowknife.

The airfield has two runways and one helipad. Runway one, 12/30, is 6,001 meters long (1,829 feet) and composed of Asphalt. 03/21 is 1,797 meters long (548 feet) and is composed of Gravel/Asphalt. Runway 03/21 has no winter service.
