Austral-Líneas-Aéreas has ceased operations

About Austral-Líneas-Aéreas

Austral Líneas Aéreas was a domestic airline based in Argentina and the sister company of Aerolíneas Argentinas. It was the second-largest domestic airline in the country after Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Its main base of operations was Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires. It was an affiliate member of the SkyTeam Alliance.

In 2020, the airline merged with Aerolíneas Argentinas, saving 100 million USD. The Austral brand was ultimately eliminated and operations officially ceased in November 2020.

Online Check-In

It's not known whether Austral Líneas Aéreas offered online check-in or not, however, online check-in usually opens 24 hours before the scheduled departure time and closes a few hours before the flight. 

Airport Check-In

If passengers could not check in online, they could do so at the airport. Dedicated check-in counters were available however specific opening and closing times are unknown.

Passengers flying with Austral Lineas Aereas' were permitted 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item. The carry-on baggage couldn't weigh more than 10 kg (22 lbs) and not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55 x 35 x 25 cm.

The personal item could include a purse, laptop bag, small backpack or a camera bag.

Passengers were allowed to bring 1-2 pieces of checked baggage, each weighing no more than 23-32 kg (depending on the fare). The checked bag couldn't be larger than 158-203 cm (length + width + height).

Fleet

Before it ceased operations, Austral Líneas Aéreas fleet consisted of 26 x Embraer 190s. These aircraft could seat up to 96 passengers (88 in Economy and 8 in Business).

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery is an international airport situated in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is the main hub for many domestic flights in Argentina.
