Buy Star Marianas Air flights with Alternative Airlines

Star Marinas Air is a U.S. commuter airline that operates scheduled and charter flights out of its hub base, Tinian International Airport (TIQ) in Tinian Municipality, Northern Mariana Islands, United States. The Star Marianas Air is named after four islands that account for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Saipan, Tinian, Aguigan and Rota. The airline was founded in 2008 and it first commenced operations in April 2009 between the islands of Tinian and Saipan using a Piper PA-32 aircraft.

The FAA and United States Department of Transportation gave permission to the airlines in June 2014 to operate scheduled flights from Saipan International Airport (SPN) to Rota International Airport (ROP) and Tinian International Airport (TIQ). Previously they were charter flights.

Star Marianas Air has continuously added to its fleet size over the years. Three Piper PA-32s were added in 2010, which doubled the fleet size from three to six aircraft. Three years later in 2013, the first of five Piper PA-31s was bought and charter flights were added to the islands of Rota and Guam. The fleet size in 2016 was again expanded to seven Piper PA-32 and five Piper PA-31. In addition to this, since 2016 the airlines have had an average of 200 flights per day being carried out.

Overall, the airline currently has a fleet of 12 turboprop aircraft ranging from all Pipers that can in total carry 75 passengers at one time.

Star Marinas Air currently operates 12 regularly scheduled flights to four destinations including Saipan, Tinian, Aguigan and Rota.

Baggage Policy

Star Marinas Air baggage includes all bags, carry-ons, laptop bags, purses and other items. All baggage must be weighed.

Checked Baggage

Star Marianas Air passengers are allowed to take 9 kg of baggage per person and go over and beyond 157 linear centimetres (length + width + height). Any additional baggage will be classed as oversized baggage and charged at $0.25 per pound (lbs) excess baggage rate. Hazardous materials such as flammables, compressed gases, batteries and toxic substances.

Cabin Classes

There is one seating class available: Standard (Economy). There are up to 30 seats on the aircraft. All seats have padded headrests, with ample storage in the overhead bins above the seats. The flights are only short, as the airline only operates regional flights, so facilities and services are limited onboard the flight.

Check-In

Star Marianas Air does not offer online check-in. As passengers turn up to the airport terminal, they will need to hand in their boarding pass and the airline will be able to take care of their baggage. Check-in will take a few minutes and boarding time is 10 minutes before departures. Therefore, it's advised by the airline that passengers should arrive 45 minutes before their scheduled departure time and be advised that check-in counters close 20 minutes prior to their departure times.
