Real Tonga (‘REALtonga’) is an airline that operates domestic flights within Tonga. It was established with the purpose of serving the people of Tonga, and is dedicated to providing an exceptional in-flight and on-ground service.
The airline commenced operations in 2013, taking over services previously operated by Chathams Pacific, a subsidiary Air Chathams, a New Zealand-based airline.
The airline is based at Fuaʻamotu International Airport and flies to the islands in Tonga. Tonga is a special country in the South Pacific ocean, consisting of 170 islands, each of which has something unique to offer visitors. With warm year-round weather, sandy beaches, an abundance of exotic marine life, the islands of Tonga promise an unforgettable vacation.

The combined weight of checked baggage that each passenger can check-in for free is 15kilograms (33pounds).
Each passenger is allowed one piece of carry-on baggage, which must have a total weight of 4.5 Kilos (10 pounds). Carry-on baggage must not exceed the following dimensions: 10 x 10 x 14 inches or 25 x 25 x 35 cm. Carry-on baggage must fit under the seat in front.
As well as this once piece of carry-on baggage, passengers can also carry the following items for free of charge: a handbag or pocketbook, an overcoat or wrap, an umbrella or walking stick, a camera or binoculars, an infant’s food/diaper bag for use in flight, and crutches and/or braces or other prosthetic devices.
Online check-in is not currently available.
Passengers checking-in at the airport are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure time. All passengers are required to present valid photo identification when checking-in.
The airline provides standard economy seating. The number of seats will depend on the aircraft being used and the route being operated.
The flights are short and facilities onboard the flight are limited. Passengers are encouraged to make the most of the services available at the airport before departing.
Seats are comfortable, with ample storage space in the overhead compartments and under the seats. During the flight, passengers can enjoy stunning views of the islands below.
Established in 2 September 2015, REALtonga is the airline’s loyalty program, designed to reward loyal passengers who are loyal to the airline. Each member who joins the program can benefit from a number of advantages, including priority baggage reclaim, discounts and promotions, and waived fees for changes.
The Real Tonga fleet comprises the following aircraft: Saab 340B Plus (up to 32 passengers), Xian MA-60 (up to 54 passengers), Harbin Y12 (up to 16 passengers).
Fuaʻamotu International Airport (IATA: TBU) is an international airport in Tonga. It is on the south side of the main island, Tongatapu and close to the capital of the country, Nukuʻalofa. International airlines with regular services to the airport include Air New Zealand and Fiji Airways (and Fiji Link). Talofa Airways also operates domestic flights from the airport.
