It's the second of the four Grand Slam tournaments, following the Australian Open and preceding Wimbledon and the US Open. The French Open takes place at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France.

This tournament was first held in 1891 and is the oldest Grand Slam tournament still played on its original site. It was initially an all-amateur event but became open to professionals in 1968. The Stade Roland-Garros has a clay surface which presents a unique challenge for players.
