About ITA Transportes Aéreos

Notice: ITA Transportes Aéreos has ceased operations as of December 2021

ITA Transportes Aéreos is a Brazilian airline, established in 2020, but formally launched services in June 2021. However, later in 2021, the airline suspended operations citing a corporate restructure. This means that currently all ITA services have been suspended. The airline is owned by Brazilian national bus company Itapemirim, which has been operating since 1953 and is the largest bus company in South America. Itapemirim hoped that due to the closure of Aviance Brazil in 2019, ITA Transportes Aéreos will be able to take the market share and demand left by the former airline. As of February 2022, the airline's air operators certificate (AOC) has been suspended by the Aviation Agency of Brazil, Itapemirim announced that they were in discussions with 2 US private equity firms to take on the companies debt and make it a wholly independent airline.

The airline initially began operating with a single Airbus A320, with plans to welcome 9 more to its fleet. ITA operated a range of domestic only services from its hub airport of São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport with a secondary hub at Rio de Janeiro/Galeão International Airport.
