Domestic Portuguese Airlines

Azores Airlines

Azores Airlines is a subsidiary of SATA Air Açores and operates domestic and international services from the Azores Islands. Similar to parent SATA, Azores Airlines is based at João Paulo II Airport but has a focus on Lisbon. The airline operates an all-Airbus fleet consisting of the A320, A321LR and A321neo.

Domestic destinations: Funchal, Horta, Lisbon, Pico Island, Ponta Delgada, Porto, Santa Maria Island and Terceira

Orbest

Orbest is an airline owned by the Spanish hotel chain Barceló Group. The airline operates a mix of both charter and scheduled services from its hub airport of Lisbon to leisure destinations in the Caribbean. The airline doesn't currently operate any domestic Portuguese services. Orbest operates a fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft on all of their routes.

SATA Air Açores

SATA Air Açores is a regional airline operating services across the Azores islands. The airline operates from João Paulo II Airport with Lajes and Horta being focus cities for the airline. The airline doesn't offer any international services or routes connecting to mainland Portugal. SATA operates a fleet of Bombardier Dash 8-Q200 and Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.

Aero VIP

Aero VIP is a regional Portuguese airline that operates daily scheduled flights on the important domestic route connecting Porto Santo Island and Funchal.

Sevenair Air Services

Sevenair is a regional airline operating domestic services only. The airline is based at Cascais Aerodrome with a focus on Portimão and Bragança. The airline also offers Air Services and Air Acadamy services as well as its scheduled airline operations. On the airline's airline operations, a fleet of Dornier 228 and Jetstream 32 aircraft are used.

TAP Express

TAP Express is a regional airline and subsidiary of flag carrier TAP Air Portugal. The airline is based at Lisbon Airport with a focus on Porto Airport. TAP Express operates a fleet of ATR 75, Embraer 190 and Embraer E195 aircraft. The airline offer destinations across Portugal as well as to cities in Morocco, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland. The airline is an affiliate of Star Alliance through being a subsidiary of TAP Air Portugal and also offers the TAP Miles & Go program.

TAP Air Portugal is the national airline for Portugal operating a range of international and European services as well as numerous domestic. The airline is based at Lisbon Airport with a secondary hub at Porto Airport and then a focus on Madeira. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance group and offers customers the TAP Miles & Go frequent flyer program.

What is a domestic flight?

Domestic flights, also referred to as internal flights are services that depart from and arrive in the same country. Even though a flight departing from Lisbon may fly over the Atlantic and land in the Azores Islands it is still a domestic service.

When should I arrive for a domestic flight?

Check-in times differ from airline to airline. However, we recommend that you arrive for your domestic flight no later than 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.

Do I need a passport for a domestic flight?

Passports are usually required for flights departing or arriving in foreign countries. As you may be travelling domestically a passport as identification may not be required by the Portuguese government. However, some form of Identification may still be needed, such as a national ID card or driver's license, you can still use your passport for this.
