What is Maestro?

Maestro is an international debit card brand launched in 1991 by Mastercard, which has been accepted in 93 countries worldwide. A Maestro card can be linked to your current account from any associated bank, like Citibank, or alternatively can be used as a prepaid card.

Like other debit cards, a Maestro card can be used in-store or online, making it a handy way of keeping and spending your money in one place. With over 15 million stores and merchants signed up with Maestro, including Alternative Airlines, Maestro is a convenient way to pay with funds from your current accounts.

The Maestro network is currently being phased out, with existing cards being replaced by debit Mastercard or Visa debit. This is expected to happen by 2027.

You can also pay for car rentals with Mastercard through Alternative Airlines.
