About Air Aland AB
Air Åland was the airline of the Åland Islands (2005–2012). The airline was based at Mariehamn Airport and connected Åland with destinations in Scandinavia. At the time that it stopped flying, the airline flew to Stockholm and Helsinki.
Air Åland was founded in 2005 and launched flights in the same year. Originally, the airline was named Flyg & Far Åland. However, it was renamed and rebranded to Air Åland before it began flying. In 2012, the airline stopped flying and all of its routes were handed over to NextJet.

Mariehamn Airport
Mariehamn Airport (MHQ) is the main and only airport in Åland and was the hub airport for Air Åland. The airport is very small, with just one runway and a small terminal building. On average, the airport handles around 50,000 or 60,000 passengers each year.
There are no airlines currently based at Mariehamn Airport. As of today, Air Leap and Finnair are the only airlines that fly to/from the airport.
