About AeroLitoral

AeroLitoral was a regional airline based in Hermosillo, Mexico. It operated scheduled flights to many destinations within Mexico and the United States. AeroLitoral was first established in 1988 and began operations the next year with a fleet of Saab 340 aircraft.

AeroLitoral flew many routes as a regional partner for Aeromexico who had a 49% stake in the company. Operations grew rapidly with the addition of more destinations to its network including Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

Expansion for the airline continued throughout the 1990s - by the early 2000s, AeroLitoral was one of the largest regional airlines serving Mexico.

In 2007, the decision was made for AeroLitoral to be rebranded as Aeromexico Connect in order to reflect its status as a regional partner of Aeromexico.

Hub Airport

General Ignacio Pesqueira Garcia International Airport

General Ignacio Pesqueira Garcia International Airport, otherwise known as Hermosillo International Airport, is an international airport situated in Hermosillo, Mexico. The airport currently handles domestic flights in Mexico as well as flights to/from cities in the USA including Phoenix and Dallas.

The airport is named after General Ignacio Pesqueira Garcia who was a Mexican military governor of Sonora in the late 19th century.

Hermosillo International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Mexico with an average of 1 million passengers being served each year.

The airport is a hub for several regional airlines including Aeromexico Connect and Volaris. It is also frequently used by Aeromexico, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and WestJet.

Fleet

Before AeroLitoral rebranded to Aeromexico Connect, it had a fleet primarily made up of the Saab 340 turboprop aircraft. These aircraft were a popular choice for regional airlines like AeroLitoral due to their short-haul routes.

AeroLitoral expanded its fleet over time with the Embraer EMB-145 and Bombardier CRJ200/700 regional jets. These aircraft were more fuel-efficient than the Saab 340s and also had large passenger capacities.
