The Cabin

United Airlines offers two cabin classes on US domestic flights, Economy and First Class. However, Economy fare are divided into three fare types, Basic Economy, Standard Economy and Flexible Economy. Not all cabin classes or fare types are available on every flight, please do check when you book with us.

Basic Economy

Basic Economy is the cheapest and simplest fare class available for Economy Class. It's not attached with any extras other than the seat. Seat selection, full-sized carry-on baggage, refunds and flight changes aren't allowed. But it's the best fare class you can buy if you know for sure that you wouldn't amend your ticket.

Economy

Normal Economy fares are divided into two fare types, standard Economy and flexible Economy fare. Standard Economy offers passengers to select their seat in advance if it's available. Flexible Economy fare offers you the choice to select your seat, a refundable ticket and any other extras that would customise your travel.

First Class

First Class is the most expensive classes out of the two and yet the most luxurious on United Airlines' domestic flights. Passengers in First Class will receive a personalised service onboard as well as a more spacious seat for you. You will enjoy more legroom and seat recline than the other passengers onboard.

Onboard dining menu would be specially designed for First Class passengers as well, depending of the total flight time. Giving passengers a comfortable flight experience. Lounge access at the airport, priority boarding, priority check-in is also available for First Class passengers. How to check-in

Online

Online check-in opens 24 hours before the established schedule departure time. You can check-in as soon as online check-in open via the airline website. All passengers are recommended to check-in online.

Airport

When checking in with United Airlines, you can either visit a self-service kiosk at the airport or the check-in counter. Passengers travelling with checked baggage must check-in at least 45 minutes before departure, otherwise, passengers should check-in 30 minutes before departure.

Arrival time

If you aren't familiar with the departing airport layout, please arrive at the airport two hours before departure time to give yourself plenty of time to check-in, go through security and reach the boarding gate. Otherwise, passengers are still advised to arrive at the airport 1.5 hours before departure.

Carry-On

Most passengers onboard United Airlines flight can travel with one personal item as well as one carry-on baggage. However, Basic Economy passengers can only travel with one personal item onboard. There are no weight restrictions on carry-on baggage but must fit within the dimensions of 22" x 14" x 9" (56 cm x 35 cm x 23 cm). It must be able to fit in the overhead lockers or under the seat.

Your personal item cannot exceed 9" x 10" x 17" (22cm x 25cm x 43cm) in three dimensions. The personal item could be a laptop, a camera, a purse, a backpack, etc.

Checked

There's no checked baggage allowance for Basic Economy class, however, you can buy baggage allowance online or at the airport. Adding baggage at the airport would be more expensive. Other Economy Class passengers should receive 50lbs (23kg) of baggage allowance with a maximum dimension of 62" (length + width + height). First class passengers are entitled to 70 lbs (32kg) baggage with a maximum dimension of 62" (length + width + height).

Do you need a passport for United Airlines domestic flights?

If you are a US national, then you won't need a passport to check-in for your flight. Simply use valid government-issued photographic ID to check-in and go through immigration would be fine, unless you have an onward connection to international destinations.
