The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) is a payment market created by the European Union to allow for simple bank transfers in Euros between consumers and businesses cross-country. The main aim of creating SEPA was to make Euro transactions as simple as efficient between different countries as it is within national borders.
SEPA is simple to use, with a single set of payment instructions, you can easily transfer cashless funds from one bank account to another. SEPA can only be used with Euro currency and between SEPA approved countries. All SEPA transactions can be used in conjunction with credit transfers, direct debits or debit cards. SEPA transactions will always be processed in Euros, even if the currency of the account is not in Euros.
SEPA can be used across multiple countries within Europe, including countries that are outside of the EU or do not use the Euro.
